usual if i best i say gg and good luck if i bust... but if someones saying gg after you bust right at the bubble that is kinda dickish in my opinion
I do it out of politeness. Can't help it, it's in my nature. Even if it is on the bubble, just know it's it's not to be a bitch. Whether it's appropriate or not, not totally sure.
If it's not appropriate, I'll keep my fat mouth shut.
imo the person who busts should say good game and good luck, nobody wants to hear good game when they didnt even make it into the money... it obviously wasnt a good game, even worse if you were two outted on river and person who hit it says gg, unless we are friends then its whatever, but ya gg usually isnt polite when said to some one if they didnt play a good game
ill say gg if the player played well, def at the ft a gg is deserved, sometimes i wave bye, the other day i told seaeyes - "sea-ya" thought that was funny....
I think it sucks when your knocked out and the pop up says thanks for playing, and its like wow rub it in my face.
Thanx Momma.. but what does polite have to do with playin for money and wanting to take other peoples chips.. thank you for your money.. now leave.... politely
I don't think it's polite to say "gg" to someone who probably didn't play a good game. When I bust out before the money, I always want to reply "no, obviously not" when folks say gg. But I realize that's kind of dickish way to respond, so I just let it go
i rarely chat at tables and never really say good game. people just say it out of politeness i think.
Usually if someone is playing well and especially if a bad beat knocked them out I like to let them know they played a good game, regardless of the point of the game.
yea I do it out of politeness too!! Unless Im having a really bad day! lol
I say it if they really had a good game not for everyone
I always take it as friendly people bidding you adieu....It is not to be taken literally. Maybe if you are at Final Table or Heads Up it might be meant that way, but it is just a poker slang term for 'better luck next time'
i only say gg, when they make it pretty far in the game! always makes me laugh when someone tells me gg when i got in the first 10 players!! but it is nice and polite to say!!
I usually say Good Game and good luck, but not to be a dickhead about it.
I've usually viewed saying gg as politeness as well. I'll sometimes say it to everyone that gets eliminated at the final table if I'm there, but if I'm knocked out early and someone says that, I really don't view it as a bad thing.
I always say gg to all my prey!! ;)
My pt was.. we all been there.. I f we get rivered and we put up a gd fight.. gg dont mean crap.. and we dont even see it.. lookin for next table is the first option..
i tell everyone i beat hu gg for the most part just to be polite and courteous i dont tell e1 in mtts only if seemed fairly decent other fish can fry
Im not sure saying gg is that bad, but apologizing when you beat someone is pretty crappy...no one wants to hear that!
saying gg is kinda lame. just don't say anything. way better
Occasionally I will say gg IF I truly see a person was playing a good game or at least trying, in my opinion. I consider myself a polite person, as well, but where there is a display of ignorance I may not say anything. I've become fussy as to when I do say it, since I feel some people simply overuse the term to the point of needling someone...especially in the PO games. I would be more likely to use it live over online anyway. My 2 cents....
I think its kind of rude saying good game, especially when someone says it to u after a horrible beat, like theyre rubbing it in your face, kind of pisses me off
I mean it when I say it at final tables. I rarely mean it when I say it any other time.
yea i never understand it either... epecially if you are deep in a tournament and the guy busts you making a bad/donkish play, thats the last thing i want to hear/see...but i guess its a polite thing
I don't think there is anything wrong with saying GG when you bust, or if someone busts and even if they didn't make the cash. I think it isn't a dick move, and is actually a polite thing to say. there are worse things that could be said at that point...
whats the big deal. I say gg only when i mean it. either way dont think it's that big of a deal
I usually say GG to someone I either know, have been on the table with for a long time, or on the final table.
i believe it is good poker etiitiqyutee to say good game when exiting the table or game
if I knowthe player well and have played them alot I will say gg...
good way to piss one off lol . I dont like it when people tell me good game but i dont mind saying it haha
I may not say it but gg to all those that exit. Good luck next game.:o
might be a useless thread...if you know the player that is one thing... but a general nice 12th place is kinda demeaning
ok .. maybe it was a gg.. but no payoff doesn't pay bills
This is not a useless thread, in my opinion.
I totally agree with this statement, too. For the most part, I realize anyone who typically says gg is generally choosing to be polite and for that reason I appreciate it. However, because I am choosy as to when I say it, doesn't mean I am mean spirited either.
So much for not responding to the thread, huh panthers? :)
I say it most times, i think more ppl say it towards the finale table, but nice to say all times
I usually say it when I take someone out, or if it was someone I have been talking to at the table. Sometimes I say it as an underhanded jab. I try to make a point of saying when I go out. Either way, I try to never say anything derogatory when I go out, and try to be extremely conservative about being so when others go out.
