The artist would be my choice here. Hugo was good but imo the artist was a much better film. Be ready to do a lot of reading if you rent it though. It is a silent film.

I haven't seen either of these movies yet. Don't know about Hugo, but I will eventually see The Artist.

Saw them...ehh...Not my cup of tea! I would give the edge to Hugo. The deciding factor was one big misfortune for a silent movie, If you accidently let one rip in the theater during a silent film, everyone hears. Your azz is busted for at least the immediate rows around you. Now it stinks and everyone is making subtle, yet very descriptive gaffing noises. What would you do?...LMFAO!
