Depending on how short he was exactly, I don't hate 4betting him pre because you're most likely ahead. If you're not getting the right odds to set mine though, with the flop and turn being so middling for your hand, I like the turn fold given the bet size. He's definitely not calling you with weaker hands so you're either way ahead or dominated.
I got into a situation like this last night at a live cash game i attend.
blinds are .25/.50 9 handed effective stack is $50
I raise to $1.50 UTG+2 with 8s8c. The cutoff, who is a regular at this game and many others, 3bets to $3.33. The big blind just flats. (the big blind is a total airhead calling station). I call and we see a flop.
Flop is 3c5c9c
I check. He Cbets 1/2 pot. (roughly $5 into $10). big blind folds. I call.
turn is 8d. I check. He checks. (I obviously intended to C-raise the turn)
Riv is Ac. I check. He bets $15, and I fold.
What could I have done differently?? Bring on any advice. I am not sensitive to criticism.
