if you think any flavor of poker is a luck game, then you're prolly playing it wrong
You need luck in every poker games, like I said before luck is important.
great thread, I am a heads up specialist, Rock beat me tonight but I bet he can verify I am very good HU. as far as luck you should be able to read your opponent, luck by heads up is about 15%. But who am I , I would like to hear from others who have been heads up in a tourney or just a game
ya poker is luck and skill combined
I guess I am not very good in HU, need more experience
na dont thimk
I think luck plays a small factor. But HU is all about playing the player. With HU, i play the cards about every 1/5 hands and I have a pretty high win %.
When I beat anybody heads up, luck is 100% a factor. I suck at short tables let alone HU, lol
There are some though that can play it and successfully, I am just more of a full-ring person.
My thoughts,,,heads up is where a person can use a whole different set of skills than in a multi person table .
yes heads up is a completely different game used to love $$$ heads up on full tilt
I agree that there is certainly more luck involved when it gets to heads up, you can still sway that luck in your favor by playing smart and understanding your opponent.
If im playing someone I am better than I try to out play them if I think im out matched skill wise I will gamble more on coinflip hands and hope they hold up but thats just my playing style, actually been working on changing my play lately though
I love playing heads up at the sitngo's it's my favorite tournament
I just like playing cards honestly dont even matter the game really for me anymore I play a lot of different stuff
But have a luck with poker... this is ;)
I guess luck is part of it but in the long run your skill will maximize your winnings and minimize your losses
Ill play Heads up HORSE any day of the week...not big on NL tho.
yea probably although im pretty good at 7 card stud
lost too much in HU..they're too tilty. too many bad beats..almost 1500$ lost on poker770, ~70$ in PS and Carbon..it's a very very dispersable discipline. it's definetely to play HU only on a final table of a huge-fielded MTT tourney.
The deeper the stacks, the less luck is a factor.
i play heads up all the time , i havent lost a tourney that i got to heads up in a loooong time cause i keep my heads up game sharp, gotta be able to close the deal
yea I have been playing heads up a lot better in SnG and Tourneys lately.....
I really love HU , not sure how good i am at it .I did play HU once wih 20$ but i lost :D.
i would say 70% player 30% luck
I just go on my runs I either play really good or really bad in heads up ........I just have bad runs where I call and have them dominated and they suck out a lot
You need luck in every poker games, like I said before luck is important
no i do not think so. i think heads up needs more talent to play. when your opponent plays aggressively you should be more patient and when he plays tight you should play more aggressive.
heads up it is all about aggression ,i once make nothing to 380$ on poker stars just playing heads up,but when i thought i am too good for the game, and go up on buy ins i start losing, and my hole bankroll gone, the worst feeling ever
playing lots of heads up will increase ur all around ability to do better in any tournament. anyone who has played a long headsup game with a opponent will notice their style suddenly change. A aggressive juggernaut will tighten up after losing a cooler or a fail bluff. adapting to ur opponents play and not wasting chips. checking top pair or betting top pair hard it certainly takes the most skill out of any game.
There is different strategy for different levels and table size which is a skill in itself. Little more luck there than other level but still there is advantage to it.
I think luck plays a small factor. But HU is all about playing the player.
i agree heads up is more skill tho I love heads up tourneys
i agree heads up is more skill tho I love heads up tourneys ?
Heads up is prolly easier Live then online, since you can see your opponents reactions to bets
LOL. Go play cash, kid. THEN talk about skill.
No, there is more to it than just luck. You have to have good instincts heads up.
I don't like heads up. I never do good.
