I am all about aggression and pushing edges, but you gotta know when the right times are.
I suppose, but at h/u, after having plenty of hands to ascertain each others' playing styles, I felt pretty good I was ahead of whatever he was 3betting there. I welcome the call, all day every day. IMO, this was the right time. I WANT that call. I'm not results oriented, I'm confident I made the right decision. My question is more geared toward the opponent. I saw some horrific plays by him during the FT, and a nice run of luck, but mostly against a single other opponent who we both obviously were reading like a book.

As I said, I saw him make bad plays throughout. I know he's 3betting me light there because I've allowed him to get away with it on several earlier occasions. This was my first 3b or 4b at all...I had raised plenty of hands, shown the ability to fold to his 3bets. His style was incredibly exploitable. Way passive with strength, 3- or 4-betting weak, and huge 2xpot overbets generally on the turn. Every bet he made at the FT committed him to the pot. A6 is well ahead of his range here, so that's not the issue to me.

I guess I'm more surprised that pokerponed actually made it to a FT.

Fun times from the very next tournament:

    bug5961 Posts Ante 100.00
    RowJimmy Posts Ante 100.00
    RowJimmy Posts SB 2000.00
    bug5961 Posts BB 4000.00
    RowJimmy Raised to 8000.00
    bug5961 All In 24822.00
    RowJimmy Calls 20822.00
    bug5961 Shows 4h,9h
    RowJimmy Shows Qc,Ks
bug5961 Won 57844.00 from Pot 1 with Two Pair Tens and Fours

Once again, I bide my time with a mega stack, waiting for the chance to hand the fool some rope.

I bounced back after that, then a few hands later:

    bug5961 Posts Ante 100.00
    RowJimmy Posts Ante 100.00
    RowJimmy Posts SB 2500.00
    bug5961 Posts BB 5000.00
    RowJimmy Raised to 10000.00
    bug5961 Calls 5000.00
    bug5961 Checks
    FLOP IS Td6dTh
    RowJimmy Bets 20200.00
    bug5961 Calls 20200.00
    TURN IS 7c
    bug5961 Checks
    RowJimmy Bets 25000.00
    bug5961 All In 21504.00
    bug5961 Shows Tc,9c
    RowJimmy Shows Ks,Kd
    RIVER IS 5d
bug5961 Won 103608.00 from Pot 1 with Three of a Kind Tens
RowJimmy Won 3496.00 from Pot 2 with Two Pair Kings and Tens

    Sigh...another epic donking hands me a 2nd.

Obv could've slowed down on that last hand, but not likely to fold anyway. He's absolutely turrble, just as my notes indicated. Was running over him left and right. If not for luck...

O crap this is in the wrong forum anyway. Oh, wells. Good games by MichMan and errolj17 as well.

obviously a bad call but why bet 95% of ur stack? why not push? I think as a general rule someone who best 95% of their stack is saying"i wanna bluff but i am not 100% sure you will fold so i will only bet 95% of my stack instead of pushing all in" so if i was him i woulda either raised or let it go.

I think your just over analyzing the whole thing. What really matters is that you play your way and win.

Ummm...when we're heads-up, and we start the hand as shallow as we are, 95% is essentially an all-in. I do it EXACTLY for the reason you stated, because the bulk of the fish I earn my $$ from think like you, and hand me their chips. Yup, VILLAIN wins sometimes - it's poker, after all. I persuaded him to stack off with K7o, that is the goal. It's not a bad-beat story, I was just wondering if this was characteristic of this particular opponent. Obviously I've received my answer, and much, much more info on others simply by posting this.

    Thanks.
