It'd be my third live tournament.
Good idea? Bad idea? Do I need to dial back the cray-cray? Amp up the aggression?
What do y'all think from what you've seen of me?

well i say if u have the bankroll or even just some extra cash than go for it. than again third event, and depending on your experience overall would have to ask yourself if u were ready for it. gl either way
I don't know ur game but id say go for it.......goodluck and keep us posted.........
I think you should go for it. No matter the outcome you will gain from the experience for a relatively inexpensive pricetag
What mtt stakes do you usually play online and what's your username online?
Depends on if that's all your poker money for 6 months or not. If it's not much money for you, go for it. If it's a significant buy-in to you I would suggest playing in some cheaper tournaments and building up your live experience before playing in such a large tournament.
Hey man by all means go for it if you think your ready.. If you run good/play good (obv) you can win some nice money in one of these tournaments. For the most part the fields pretty weak but sprinkled in some grinders/guys who have a clue. GLGLGL!!! hope you have good news to report back after your shot.
I say man chase the dream if you got the money go after it and take it down. I just wanna win a wsop event just to have that accomplishment under my belt
i say shoot for the stars man got to be in it to win it
Thanks, everyone.
It's extremely rare for me to get to a casino, so "six months' poker budget" is one trip, heh.
I figure I have to learn sometime, so January's the right place to start.
Which one? Harrah in Atlantic City that is coming up. If you can afford it go for it. Don't discount the fact that this will bring players to town and there may be some nice cash games as well.
I say you use your normal skills and don't hesitate to donk a few times pre-flop about 20 minutes in.... that little extra aggression combined with some good ole' fashioned donkey luck might get you in a good position... then if it works, you coast and fold anytime it gets deep... and rely on nuts or close to them only... don't be skeered
Choctaw in extreme southern Oklahoma. I live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
hell yes do it and good luck ur doing vwhat some cant
if u have some extra cash go 4 it , why not
did you make your decision wheter or not you were going to enter the tournament and where is it being held and when?
I've decided to go if I can secure transportation. (Due to a medical condition it's unsafe for me to drive, and the timing of the casino bus is inconvenient.)
It's the WSOPC event at Choctaw Casino, Event #4 (One-Day Turbo $365), Sunday, 12 January.

good luck if you decide to enter this event bring home some cash

why not??
If you are good, and feel confident in your poker skills, take it down.
Play TAG and very carefully until you hit the good hand, then push it....
gl whatever you choose
good luck..bring back some cash and spread it around on us donks
Don't know your play, but I say go for it and enjoy the experience (as long as that's not your rent money).
Hate this game....love this game...always the same, and sometimes the same. Don't make a lick of sense...hahahaha...the fox is coming off an addiction to speed. For three years I have been taking perscripition medication perscribed from a doctor. Started out with vivanns, and before I knew it...I was also taking addy tabs as well. In the beggining, man I got everything done. After a few years of being on em I feel like I have lost a step. That shit is bad... I don't care how much of a problem have concentrating. Prolonged uyse to it is going to kill u. There is no plan set into place to take anyone who is on them, off of them. From what I can tell, the plan is to raise the amounts perscribed to an individual. So for this guy...I'm off that shit...day three...so while u are sitting back enjoying your victorys, just remember u did not get better then me...I'm detoxing. Love to u all...c u at the the tables!!!!!
Us donks love the money thrown by other donks. Sharing is caring. ....lol
One more post and I'm good to go for the 9 pm carbon freerole. Don't know where all my points r but know they will be here beore tommorrow. Oh well... at least I got enough for tonights freerole. I have been playing like an idiot but thats only because I cant concentrate or focus right now. That or this west coast kush got me like....
Give it a try! If the money doesnt mean that much to you then go for it. I dont recall playing against you directly in freerolls or anything so i dont know how you play. What casino is this tournament going to be played at? Good luck if you end up playing!
If you can afford it hell yeah ,congrats on having the balls to take a shot,I see alot of good players playin hear who don't want take a real shot.
don't be skeered like a little donkey... get some balls and pray to your luck god for some great cards...
Goodluck man! I hope you kick some donky asss!!
you'll get railed. don't play it
most definitely go for it!! the experience is worth it! i won a 500 dollar staking package and played 2 WPT tourneys! what a trip that was!!!! good luck and keep us posted!!
best of luck to you, take it down!
gl to u and u shoild play if u get a chance to go,, will be a fum experience for u.. as long as u dont b ust out rite away,, have fun gl....
from here I wish you luck.
remember playing each hand carefully and thinking about the probability of the opponent.
good luck.
I have played several WSOPC Main Events and the fields are pretty tough. But you have to take shots at playing with good players to get better. If you lose the $365 and would be upset I would suggest playing the daily tournament for under $100 at the casino if they are doing smaller tournaments. With the WSOP in the casino (most times in a conference room area of casino) the casino's regular daily tournaments' participation is way up also. And you can always test your skills there, BUT you don't get a ring for those... GL and remember to run good. If you make it deep you can look up on the website to see who at your table is the WSOPC grinders are. You will get a lot more credit for hands being an unknown and can kinda take advantage of them if you do it sparingly.
If you can afford it, then by all means go for it. It will be difficult though to do well in a tournament with this big of a buy in unless you have a lot of experience playing in live tournaments at smaller buy ins.
My advice would be to try and find out the exact structure of the tournament you are planning to play in. They usually have a printout available that shows starting stack sizes, number of players per table (it should be 9 but in some casinos they will have 10 players at the start and then change to 9 handed once players get knocked out), the length of the levels as well as any planned breaks.
With regards to having 10 players instead of 9 is so that more players can get into the tournament. A ten handed game does play tighter and there is a slightly higher probability of a pair of kings running into a pair of aces. As well as Kings vs. Queens and so on. There is also a slightly higher risk of other hands being dealt. It does take some getting used to though.
Once you have the structure available I would try to find some online mtts of same structure and number of players in the tournament. Even better would be to play in smaller live buy in tournaments with a similar structure, but that is very hard to find in smaller locations.
Even if you cannot find any games live, the experience of playing in a larger buy in live tournament is well worth the money if the buy in would not be missed if you fail to cash. Playing in large buy in tournaments have been some of the best moments in my life. Having played in several 10k buy in tournaments was a rush ( I won 3 seats in big buy in mtts, one was the wsop main event in 2004, one was in a WPT10k event in 2005 where I went out in 60th place or so out of 600 players, and one was a 5k WPT event in 2005 where I went out in 32nd place and cashed for $11k and change.
I cannot tell you how many smaller buy in events I played but there were a fair number of 200-1,500 buy in tournaments over the years. Even have a bracelet that I won in 2001 at a WPO event (it was the 2nd largest tournament event at the time. They called it the Jack Binion World Poker Open (hence the wpo) and ran in Mississippi for a number of years at the Gold Strike Casino and the Horseshoe Casino. Only wish I had was to win a real bracelet at the WSOP> Otherwise I enjoyed the time I was able to play in these tournaments.
If you want some helpful tips about playing in a bigger Live tournament I would be happy to assist you in any way I can assist you (other than how to actually win them, lol). Me I seemed to always end up going out in 2nd-5th at the final tables when I made it that far.
Some more advice in regards to preparation would be to go to the online poker forums that have vast archives and read up on hand histories, situations, and the advice that these people received in their quest to improve their own game. In addition, a couple of poker books geared specifically towards tournament strategy might be worth investing in .If you don't want to buy any books, you could try the local library (a lot of libraries share their book inventories and you might be able to obtain them on loan for a 2 week period of time even though your library does not have it on their shelves).
You have plenty of time to work on your game online as well as to read a few books and gain some advice in that way too. Good Luck
