Phil Ivey Admits 'Edge Sorting' in Crockfords Punto Banco Case
very interesting, surely can't be cheating if the cards are there, you play the cards. Lol My local casino dealer spotted the cards had this same problem 2 days ago! lol

Phil Ivey Admits 'Edge Sorting' in Crockfords Punto Banco Case

He runs in streaks like a lot of players do. It's all in the cards. If you don't get them it's hard to win unless you bluff a lot.
any type of cheating at all should be frowned upon he is such a great player he does not need to cheat
pay this man his money whoop phil ivey is dah man
Well as I thought Ivey did nothing illegal. He should get his money and the casino needs to check there cards closer.
Let him have his money
I agree with the thought that, -the casino is azz out for not doing their job here. If you sit down at a blackjack table that is normally 5 decks and then see that it is only single deck blackjack and go to work, whose problem is that, the dealers or casino IMHO.
Give ivey his money, he didn't cheat and the casinos just pissed they lost. If Ivey lost that much they wouldn't give him back his money because they had a "statistical edge".
yea thats BS...if he lost theyd have no problem taking his money....
He woin so give him his F'N money$$!!!!!
he prob wontendupgetting it which makes me sick... all thsese casinos have there own rules which are ridiculous.
thats the player who u see in a mtt that is "holding up" their cards...ask them nicely to them down so no1 can see them....does it over n over....wat to do? i mean same kinda concept....wasnt ivey touching the cards....it was a fault in their decks and was exposed.....they should know better and be on top of these kinds things....
Well, it may be legal, but I don't know. Seems like counting cards in blackjack would be perfectly legal. I think its a grey area and he won through manipulation.
As long as you follow the etiquette of poker all is legal and no one should complain about it.
Well, this wasn't poker. And, he didn't follow the etiquette of the game he was playing. He tricked the dealer into laying the cards sideways. The dealer probably lost there job over this.
some players have strategy that doesn't involve normal every day playing proccesses... can't hate on them for being creative
When you get up to the millions of dollars in your bankroll you really have to play differently. Mathmatically correct poker is important but people like Ivey build an image so we just see highlights on TV. Its really hard to correctly assume how every hand went before the highlight we see too. Someone might of shoved with like J5 then next hand you see ivey call with 10/j vs that player. Seems like a horrible play but with the history its actually correct mathmatically.
Patrick
yes if yu make amistake oh well 4 yu,but if casino makes a mistake they got a backup rule to screw yu
Its sounds like a legal issue to me , take em to court
i love how these casinos will use any edge possible to take millions from people... but when someone gains an edge over them its "cheating"
Good for him. He should be able to exploit the casino is the casino fucks up.
philly philly philly philly philly.....is the man!
dude beat them fair n square, when you don't even touch the cards its their problem. pay him
pay him pay him pay him !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agreed, pay the man, it was the casinos fault as they let him play the whole time, they are the scammers...
is it really cheating if he found a flaw in the game.... thats like saying its cheating cause the old guy to my left picks his cards up and i can see them everytime, not my fault
what? lol you cant really be on the casinos side can you
if he woulda lost 12 million, they damn sure wouldnt have said, o the cards were flawed, here your money back.
mUST BE THE MEATALLURGY!
cheater, cheater, never wins...or do they always win? Never can tell these days...oh well...either way...long as you never know you were being cheated then maybe you weren't...or maybe you were...ALL IN!!!
wait, does this have anything to do with the casino over in Europe not paying him his winnings??? I find it hard to be Ivey would try to cheat. The mans a honest gambler and he doesnt have to cheat to win hes just the f'n man. Ivey Ivey Ivey!!!!!!
casinos need tighter regulation. they should not be a law unto themselves.
Phil Ivey rocks... One day, you will meet me
I agree with the law. It is up to the casino to make sure their cards are properly cut and unmarked. Players should use every advantage they can get to beat the house and if the house wants to make it easier on intelligent and observant people then that's their own fault. Ivey did not mark the cards, he just observed the difference between them and used it to his advantage. To me, it's the same as having a perfect read on a player. It's not cheating if the opponent gives you the advantage, it's just bad for the opponent. Casinos get away with robbing people daily because they keep the advantage, but when the advantage sways to the player, they classify it as "cheating". Well in that case, they are lifetime cheaters.
Phil phil what are you doing .. :D
