AB114 authorizes Nevada to enter into compacts with other states to offer Internet poker.
what impact will it have on this site?
I knew Nevada would be in on this before long. Vegas knows how much money they stand to gain by getting in on this. I can see them eventually having online poker rooms where they offer comps and incentives to get people to come to Vegas in person via online play bonuses.
what does that mean exactly...only nevada ppl can play online poker?.....O_o
It's kind of like when Colorado and Washington legalize marijuana at a state level but still able to be penalized by federal laws, now a lot of states are pushing for it to be legalized at the federal and theres a bill that will. so give it to next fiscal year and online gambling will be legal.
I'm sure IL will not join, they always stay behind in things like this including marijuana lol
This is Awesome news. I agree it will be a domino effect and online gambling will be back.
baby steps to the car baby steps to the felt then soon were saillliiinnngg (if u dont know this is refrence to movie what about bob)
Internet Poker is not illegal under federal law, if the state where the player resides does not make it illegal, as contrasted with marijuana which every state makes it illegal. The federal statute says illegal if illegal in the state. Las Vegas would be able to contract with states where internet poker is not illegal without fear of the feds.
but
"Another caveat in the bill bans companies that illegally participated in online gaming between 2006 and 2011 for a period of five years."
I dont think we get Pokerstars any time soon.
great news........
all I can say is merge better start processing those withdrawal requests within 48 hours or they are going out of business. Competition is great for the consumer.
well i hope like hell that ohio does
if you live in vegas WHY the hell would you care if online gambling is legal? UR IN VEGAS!
Looks like it's headed in the right direction
So like some one else asked can you play on poker stars and FTP in Nevada now?
Cmon California time to get with the program!
come on pa get with the program! lol
That's good... I've gotta an old fling in Reno that's been begging me to move to Nevada. These Indian Casino's and Riverboats are all that's around here, in Louisiana. I'm bored with them.
Well, PokerStars might be able to do thru the NJ bill...but the rake might be prohitive and making the games not beatable...NJ bill will tax the companies 15% of gross revenue and guess who will end up paying for that.
The bill, which Governor Chris Christie recently vetoed in order to slip in a few provisions, is likely to pass. Amendments will include a 15 percent state tax of gross revenue on online gambling—up from 10 percent—and an increase in annual funding to fight compulsive gambling, from $150,000 to $250,000. Democratic leaders of New Jersey’s Senate and Assembly have said they will accept these terms.
At least one foreign online gambling company is already positioning itself to get in on the game. Isle of Man-based PokerStars, the world’s leading online poker site, agreed in December to buy the struggling Atlantic Club Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. Purchasing the brick-and-mortar casino, which posted a $13.6 million operating loss through the first three quarters of 2012, would give the PokerStars brand more visibility as it tries to gain a foothold in the nascent U.S. online gambling market.
yeah screw people waiting 5 years , no offence. i think the NJ thing next month will sort it all out for stars and FT
yes i think nj will legalize soon too but hopefully not get involved with sites outside usa they screwed us enough
and the best part of all this we will be able to deposit and withdraw thru our own banks legally
Vegas might start some online poker sites but still think it'll take some time to get anything actually going.
Are players going to be able to play at pokerstars?
I live in North Carolina and am playing on-line poker as I am typing...............
1 State down (Maybe 2 if NJ is in) 49 to Go
yes but remember Vegas is about themselves not us. In the long run they have to make out. Live is how they roll not on-line. That is why they comp the drinks and stuff to get the players drunk and not pay attention to poker lol. I can be wrong but Vegas is the worst place to have the first American on-line poke site/sites.
I will be a million air selling tin foil hats so maybe I will be on this band wagon................
there is still alot of grooming to do before we actually see it about a year i would think
Good to know. I will now move to Las Vegas, lol.
I think Nevada is making sure legalize online poker right away, because it gives Nevada casino operators the chance to get sites opened up legally before the rest of the country. This means they will have a head start making money off the other 49 states as the domino effect starts, and allows Nevada to increase revenue from sources outside of the state.
Also, South Point Casino in Las Vegas was running a poker site last year that gave away 10 seats to the Main Event. Most people were speculating that they were doing it to build up a base in case online poker was legalized.
vegas already got all the gambling one can imagin .... give the rest of us a break
