wow dude, a military buddy of mine died on new year night drinking and partying and i was so smash i told them no i was stayin in..dude was only 21 and life is gone because of drinking and driving, stay safe guys....take a dam taxi if you have too
AAA is giving free rides...I didnt get into this accident on NYE...but its still a bone chilling reminder.
Nice post ! Please remember it when you Party !!!
Thanks for the reminder!! As a 20 year bar owner, I can tell you that I've lost count of how many people would not take our free cabs and insisted "I'm fine" only to here about them the next day. STAY SAFE PEOPLE!!!
I think we all not that all stupid anymore to drive when you have drinking.
Great reminder, and you are very lucky.
My husband and I always cab it on this night and last year when the cab picked us up, he asked who's vehicles were in the driveway and we replied ours. He said he had never picked anyone up before with two registered vehicles at the house. We just laughed and told him it is not worth the risk, we wanted to have a great time and not worry about keeping tabs on how much we were drinking or consequences that could follow.
Needless to say we always have a great carefree New Year's celebration with friends.
good post ... I know quite a few people that learned this lesson the hard way ... myself included
Awsome, Id like to do that too.
nights like nye im glad i dont have a license no temptation then :D
if you get drunk enough you turn into a slinky and wont even get hurt, thats the key
great reminder =) i never drink and drive...was in a car accident when i was a kid and we were hit by a drunk driver, my lil sis almost died that night..luckily we all survived it. Be safe everyone =)
Before all the major drinking holidays (new year, memorial day, 4th, etc), they park totaled cars by all the gates on post (live on army base) with signs reminding people not to drink and drive.
Well, I made that huge mistake summer last year...please dont let anyone else!
I hate to be mean, but anyone that drinks and drives DESERVES anything they get including death. Also one DUI and should be mandatory 5 years in prison and loss of license for life. If you crash into another car in that DUI, it should be mandatory life in prison.
Im not even going to reply to that....WOW
WOW? Drinking and driving kills...that should be the WOW.
ok ill agree that there should be tougher sentences HOWEVER the key here is that crp has deffinately learnt his lesson and is using that lesson to pass on a message to others thus turning a serious negative into a positive...should be life for repeat offenders tho...everyone makes mistakes its what they learn from said mistakes that counts
Drinking and driving is NOT a mistake. And yes, if you crash into another car the penalty should be life in prison. Just like if you speed in a construction zone and hurt someone..should be life in prison.
This is true.. a drunk has a rubber neck! lol A drunk person's body is limp and usually a drunk person isn't even aware of a crash about to occur, therefore they don't tense up or try and brace themselves in an accident and that's why they usually survive with few injuries while the poor innocent sober person involved in the crash is sadly the fatality alot of the time.
Yes, it is always the innocent person that gets killed or hurt when it should be the drunk.
Just exactly how do you guys explain your theory that drinking and driving is a mistake? It is NOT a mistake. It's not like you made a wrong turn.
CRP? Who else was involved?
well lets hope you learned a lesson from it
You underestimate your ability, especially if you have done it before. I am ashamed to admit that in my early 20's I did it all of the time and one night I did realize I had to much to drink, I pulled over to let my friend drive herself home and I only lived a half mile up the street from her, it was not a well traveled road. She offered to let me stay and I said no I am just up the street.
I did end up totaling my car that night and I thank God I did not hurt or injure anyone else. I did learn my lesson and never did it after that.
This is from the front page of the newspaper a town over from me.. the driver was drunk at 10:30am!! The driver is now facing a murder charge and many more charges (the passenger was killed). It just isn't worth it!!!

it's like when a drunk says they're not wasted so they think they're fine to drive...it's irresponsibilty, not a mistake imo but i'm biased bc i have been in a drunk driving accident where we were the innocent victims and the other driver was drunk. I've also been in a 3 car fender bender bc the driver was drunk and hit the car behind me, which hit my car...luckily I escaped with no damage to my jeep...the spare tire took the brunt of the hit...the point is, ppl need to be responsible and not drive if they've been drinking.
It is a mistake just like someone who breaks the law any other way.. if you mess up, you made a mistake. PERIOD. Everyone makes mistakes, and obviously if you are intoxicated you are of poor judgement when you choose to drive that way. Now a habitual offender is another case. I agree with azreal1 though, that's not what this thread was about, it was a reminder for everyone to be safe on New Year's Eve!! So everyone have a HAPPY and SAFE NEW YEAR!!!
I agree...live it up, just don't drive afterwards, be responsible.
LOL! I know right?!?!?! Maybe he was still drunk from the night before.. that's all I can figure. Although, when my hubby worked 3rd shift and got off work at 6am he could start drinking just like it was 6pm at night, due to his schedule being ass backward to other people's... he was really no different than the guy who drinks beer when he gets off work at 6pm, I suppose. Atleast that was my hubby's defense lol.
In Indy here cabs are free for New years eve. Is it like that anywhere else? BE SAFE and if your going to drink plan on staying where ur at plz!!
