How important is being an active poker forum member to improving you're game?
I just finished 11th in my first Pokerowned freeroll. Finally I can play a freeroll with a group interested in bettering poker skills and not just playing "all in roulette."
I'm not sure I follow, please enlighten me
like sun tzu says know u and the others(u will lost less).and oliver movie(any given sunday)see before do it see and do it
Yes after playing a couple more freerolls i can see there are still those desperately trying to double up and get lucky. Substantially less than the open freerolls though
not there best card to play poker there is intelligence and patience
a lot of focus is required to sustain oneself from tilting :P
there will always be idiots in freerolls!
Playing at the poker tables is the only way to improve your game
While ALOT playing will never learn anything, you have to want to become better to learn, push and pray is NEVER a strategy worthy of playing any game!!
That's good you are having fun now..check back in a couple weeks. Tell us your thoughts then. :)
I did not know to post a message was receiving points, these is something that was not outstanding but I'll keep doing it, thanks pokerowned
I dont think U can even improve ur game playing freerolls, until u get deep in tourney!
You can improve youre game when ur deep into a freeroll bc people play mor elike they would if they had bought in!
This just isnt true. There are tons of ways to improve your game that have nothing to do with sitting down a actually playing. Reviewing hand histories, watching training videos, reading articles written by coaches and most importantly, TALK POKER with who ever will listen. The most beneficial thing I have ever done in my 8+ years playing poker is talking poker with players better than me. Try and get a regular chat going with a group of players you know. Talk about hands and situations you all have gotten into and how you played them out. Talking poker regularly will help your game more than anything else. There isnt a truly successful poker player on the planet who got to where he/she is at today simply by sitting down and playing. If you want to be good and make some serious money, you gotta do the homework as well.
And I have to disagree with this also. Its true that there are spots early in the tournament will people will jam the 2K starting stack on the 3rd hand preflop for no reason which may not be a learning spot for most people, but when people are jamming their 10 BB stacks into your blinds and you are faced with the tough decision whether to call with your marginal holdings, that is a learning spot everytime. You should be putting your opponent on a range of hands in that spot, and trying to determine whether you have good enough odds to call with your hand. Just because you have like J9 offsuit in the BB and someone jams into you, that isnt a snap fold. Think about the situation, and learn from it.
I'm new to P.O. but not new to online poker, i honestly have found the P.O. free rolls to have pretty decent play out of the few I have played in. I like this community already, and i enjoy having an avenue to play other good players.
I recently decided I was done with pokerowned due to frustration with gathering points, but I couldn't stay away. The freerolls are great, the forums give me a group of peers to compare with, and it's nice to play with a more regular group rather than random strangers. I just buy points now. Also, I feel like my game has improved since I joined, so that's worth something right?
i cant ever seem to place in a freeroll, i do just fine in cash games and sng but lord knows i cant beat out a measly 30 people just to place in the cash, after like 9 freerolls now lol
I enjoy the players here even the mouthy off the wall players thattalk alot of smack...makes me play a better game and Ive won some nice money here!!!
seems like poker owned has been attracting a wide variety of donkeys as of recent, free rolls have gotten pretty sloppy on bcp imo.
if you try the lock freerolls theres usually mid 20 entries and pays top 9....how do you beat that?
theres always lesson to learn when you play poker whereever you play
Somtime idiots but idiots have somtime luck
you really do have to have patience to place at final table if you are used to cash games that is hard to do
Really like it here, I now playing whit better player I can better my game, thx for beating me over and over, I am learning, and like people say, not playing a roullete
PO is not really a site to help you become a better poker player, IMAO. There are several sites much better at helping you become a better player. However, what PO does do is give you a chance to get a small bankroll started so you can take what you learn and hopefully put it to work for you. It also allows you to try several different sites to play on so you can learn some of the different softwares available to play online. I, personally, wouldn't take anything I've learned here and try to use it as a poker player, but it does allow me to play a varied number of sites and gives me the chance to make a bankroll on each of them.
The only tru way to successfully inmprove your game is to put the time in playing and learning from your mistakes. In my opinion PO is a great way to improve your game.
i agree i picked up something from a viewer watching me and helping me on some bets and earlier this morning i used what i was seeing when being told how to go about my bet fold or raise and i used it in a $200 dollar freeroll and took 10th place so yea i totally agree
I would have to say its pretty important, lol im just bustin ya balls, who cares
I have only been on here for a mere 6 months, and by reading thru the forums semi daily, I continually read and watch some tips that I eventually try out, so yes, I think the forum is a great learning formula.

Poker forums, like any forum, generally give you back what you put in. You can troll around and read and learn few things here and there...or you can get in and get comfortable, put your feet up and immerse, and go deep.
I'm hoping to have some luck playing real poker and not lotto. We will see. Lol!
