Everyone needs to keep in mind that even if the odds are low, hundreds (if not just over a thousand) of hands can be played in any one tournament. So even if it's a 2% chance of any one person flopping a flush in any given hand, when you have dozens of people playing a game at once, each with their own hands, and all mostly playing upwards of at least a couple hundred hands per game, the odds that they or you hit a flush on the flop during any one game (rather than any one hand) increase dramatically.
