Well my first tourney is in the books and it was a stinker lol I couldn't get any momentum. I had a couple pocket pairs that missed the flop and had to fold. When I was the aggressor I was called down or raised and had the pot taken from me. Just super annoying poker lol. The only hand that I think I played wrong was my last. I'm in the big blind with ace 8 suited on a 10 big blind stack. My plan was to restealing a late position raise or go and go a mid position raise. (Call preflop and shove any flop) Well, a middle position player raised and then 3 players called. Crap, this changed my original plan. I could fold shove or call. Folding is the safe play and probably the best. But after this blind and the small blind pass me, my fold equity diminishes greatly. I could shove but my hand has poor flopping value and I am sure to get called by at least one opponent who could have me severely crushed. What about calling then shoving any flop that gives me a draw or pair? My hand doesn't produce many good drawing opportunities but I'm in a bad spot anyway. So I call. Flop is k 5 7 one spade. My plan check fold here. So I check and it gets checked around. The turn brings the second spade and a gut shot straight. No one liked this board on the flop so I think I have a shot to win this pot. I shove. I get called by the mid position raiser. He shows 3 4 of spades for a pair and a flush draw. I need an ace 8 or spade to triple up and I brick. I'm still not sure if my play was awful, bad, slightly -ev, or ok. Obviously it wasn't great. Lol on a side note I didn't play the 6pm bounty survivor. It was my friends birthday and he lives about 2 hours away so since I don't see him often, I decided to pass on that tourney and celebrate with him. I really wanted to play that tourney more than any other but he is my friend and friendship will always trump poker in my life. Hopefully, I will get some good karma points for my upcoming tourneys. The next crack will be PLO and then the survivor. Wednesday can be a big day for me and I feel confident that it will be. Until next time, good luck and see you on the felt.
