That's the right attitude. It will pay off in the long run. Good luck!

Smashed smashed smashed lol
To say brick brick brick would be an understatement lol. I have never experienced anything like it. I was cruising along, nothing to write home about it I was up $30 bucks about an hour or so into my session. Then it took a crazy turn. I play 6-12 oe. For those of you who don't know it is a limit game where you can bet in $6 increments preflop and the flop and then $12 increments on the turn and river. This game also has a half kill. That means the limits go to $10 and $20 increments. Well, long story short in four hands I lost over $200. In four hands. That's hard to do in this game, especially how tight I play. I had 3 dream hands and one clear fold. Those three dream hands got bricked in big capped pots and there went the money lol. Then it got worse. I lost another $204 in the course of the next 3 hours. Nothing remarkable in that time frame. I played a little looser in the hopes of hitting miracles (bad idea obv lol) and bricked. I need to get the word brick out of my vocabulary lol.
Anyway, I can't wait for this month to be over lol. It's been one of the worst of my poker career. I have one last session left in the month. It would need to be a doozy of a session to get me into the black for the month. But I cannot worry about that. I have to focus on what I can control. I can't control how much I win or lose in a session. All I can control is playing the best I can play, day in and day out. The rest will take care of itself. I can't run this bad for much longer. It will turn around. I know it. They say March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb. Maybe that will be said for my poker month. Very stressful in the beginning but easy going at the end. Until next time, good luck and see you on the felt.
jokerstars is nothing but a grind!!
Thank God this month is over. Lol
The last session of the month was a microcosm of the month in general. It was a slow agonizing death with moments of hope lol. The first 2 hours of my 10-20 Omaha session were sheer boredom. I didn't get a chip pushed my way. Not a split, not a scoop. I only entered like 5 or 6 pots but didn't hit any flops. It was pretty amazing really. Then I was dealt some good hands and missed. Then some more goods hands and got half. I rarely scooped in my session. It wasn't my hand selection because I was playing good starting hands. It wasn't my aggression. It wasn't the table dynamic(at this point in the night). It just wasn't my night. Then it got better. A few looser players entered the game and I was able to make a comeback. I started scooping some big pots and got back to even for the session. For the moment, things were looking up. Then the game got short handed and I finally came to a realization about my poker style. I am not a good short handed player. I have always thought that but I have the evidence and stats to back it up. The last 7 times a game had gone short handed, I have ended up a big loser and this session was no different. I lost $462 most of which when the game went short. I need to be aware of this and leave a game when it is 6 handed or less. My style is just not suited to play that type of game. The hand ranges go a little wider than I feel comfortable playing with at this time. As I improve, I may reconsider this, but right now it is just not for me. And I think that bring us to an important life and poker lesson: know thyself. I know short handed is not for me. I will get away from any game that goes short handed from now on. We should all think about different aspects in our lives and poker careers that are toxic to our success and eliminate them. Think about how much better off we would be? I for one will take this advice to heart and adjust my approach. I truly believe it will be one more improvement to my game that will pay big dividends throughout the rest of the year. Good luck to all of you and see you on the felt.
my advice to you is to quit while your ahead my brother lololololol.

Gl in your future bro.
Keep it up jdawg. ill be keeping up to date on ur status.
First session of April was a success. It was a hard fought victory for me. I was in for $600 and was down to about $80. Then all my run good that I was owed in February and March came in a 2 hour span. I like to think this was due to good decision making, good preparation, and great timing. The first good decision was stepping down in stakes and playing 6-12 oe instead of 10-20 o8. Thursday night is usually my 10-20 night but since I was getting beat up, I decided to stay with 6-12 until I have a couple wins. Win or lose last night, that was a smart decision and maybe karma paid me back. It was a pretty sick roller coaster. Going way down in the very beginning to making a profit of $128 was insane and all in the last 2 hours of my session. Another lesson learned from the session, never give up. It would have been easy to just tilt off my stack and quit on the night. But that is not how I do things. I can't quit. I know if I want to be successful, I have to give 100% and never stop. Hopefully this is the beginning of a good month. I have another opportunity tomorrow to keep up the good vibes. Hopefully it will be even better than the last session and i can recoup some of the losses i sustained the last two months and gain some momentum as I make my run at the wsop circuit this month. Who knows but I will give it my all. In any regard, good luck and see you on the felt.
Goodluck online it's pretty messed up now days if you are in the U.S. a lot of bad play gets rewarded.
good job, I find live games to be much more profitable but less convenient here in MT for sure...December I had a great month and played alot...up $3100 in 5 sessions ...havent played much since but still running fairly well in the live games...online is very hit and miss for me...beaten by gutshots and 2 outers is the norm it seems...
Awesome. Those are some excellent results for five sessions. I always believe volume is the key. The more you play when things are going well, the more money you can make. Also, when things are going poorly, and you are a good player, the more opportunities you will have to right the ship. Keep up the good work! Get your volume in!
Good news bad news lol. The bad news is my Saturday session was a loser. The good news was that I am still up for the week and the month. This session was interesting to say the least. I feel as though I played well. I was up between $150 and $240 for the first 5 of the 6 hours I played. The last hour was hell. Anything that could go wrong went wrong. One hand was particular brutal. I had buried aces and a king up in stud 8. I was heads up from third street to the end with a calling station. Her board was so bad I just kept betting and as it turns out, I was ahead the entire time until 7th where she made a flush. Se bricked fourth and should have folded. She bricked fifth and should have folded. She hit a four flush on sixth and then the flush on seventh. It was a kill pot so it was a $180 swing for me. There were two or three hands where I played absolutely perfected and bricked out causing further frustration. But overall, I liked how I played. I wound up losing $45 on the session. Not life changing not bankroll killing, just frustrating because I was up a nice chunk. But that's poker sometimes. You do everything right and are doing well and then all of sudden it goes bad. But you pick yourself up and start again. Rinse and repeat lol I am looking forward to getting back out there again this week and building the roll up. I have the wsop circuit this month and my eyes on Vegas in June. Big dreams start with small steps. In any regard, good luck and see you on the felt.
set small goals, accomplish them 1 at a time, then move onto the next.
Small win in a short session
I went out for my regular Thursday 10-20 o8 session looking for a big win. Obviously from the title, that didn't happen. Moreover, the game didn't happen. It didn't get any interest. Only 3 people showed up. So I figured I would leave and go home. However, my friend had a different idea. The three of us who were on the list were going to play 5-10 mixed games. I was kind of hesitant because I had playing short handed but then he told me what the mix would be and I got excited. I have never played these games live but have played them a lot online, probably more than they have. The mix included stud 8, Omaha 8, badugi, razz, 2-7 triple draw, and ace to 5 lowball. I have a lot of experience with lowball games and I felt like I was a favorite to do really well. The session started out great. I was up a little over $100 and then I whiffed on a couple of Omaha hands. Then I was down but the lowball games up again and I went up $155. The session then was called short by my friend who was tired of losing lol. By that time I was up a whopping $34 lol. It was a small win but a fun win. I liked playing those games. I wish they went with more regularity. But as most of know, it's a no limit Holdem world. The other games aren't as popular and obviously barely run. Maybe the next poker boom will revolve around badugi lol. Probably not but i know they spread more variety in Vegas. Maybe this was the session that wet my whistle. The session that has motivated me to play better, build the bankroll, and make the journey to the wsop. I need to start building some momentum and quick. The wsop circuit is coming up and my roll is lower than I want it to be in order to take a shot. I have a few more sessions before the two tourneys I want to play. I don't know if I want to play one or both or none. I will let this week dictate how I feel. If I string a couple wins together, I will feel more confident, and will be more willing to take a shot. Hopefully, things go well and I will be posting about final tabling a circuit event this time next week. In any regard, good luck and see you on the felt.
Not bad!!! keep it up!!
Honestly the grind to build a bankroll is fun. Example: Deposit $100.00 into your account at bovada or wherever you play. First off what I like to do is hit the 0.50/$1 Fixed or $1/$2 Fixed Limit just to start, lets face it you go into a NL room with only $100.00 it can be gone in minutes. Example:You get pocket KK then the flop comes KAJ, well first thing your going to do if your smart is slow play it maybe a min bet or even a check because you just made 3 of a kind, not bad flop. But the ace and J is out there. Well you check, he best lets say $5.00, naturally you will stall then cal $5.00 then the Turn is a K, there you have it 4 of a kind. You know you have him, this is where you just check, then if your lucky he will bet about $20.00, naturally you hesitate again and call. Then the river comes another Ace. Your thinking to yourself I have pocket kings, and 2 kings on the board and there is 2 aces on the board, *There is no way he has pocket aces* So this is where you push $20.00 or whatever to make him think your trying to scare him, well he turns around and bets $100.00 which would put you all in. Well you have 4 Kings and the chance of him having 4 aces is maybe less than 1% so you call. Guess what, he had pocket aces and your broke. So until you build your roll do fixed limit 0.50/$1.00 or $1/$2
What I do is get on a table and my rule is 4 Good beats an hour, slow playing on the $1/$2. So $40-$60 an hour if your patiant. Then I switch tables, maybe even a lower limit. Get a few good beats and leave, not it is possible to get 4-5 good cash payouts on the new table in like 10 minutes, but switch tables, then I like to hit some micros no limit, Normally I can deposit $100.00 and turn it into $300.00 on a good day but people do suck out.
hopefully youve been doing well, the bankroll grinding isnt at all the fun part, the fun part is grinding after you have rax
I love the grind. if im up then im out thinking people and I love it
I love these posts keep them up in the future. Good progress.
I like the grind. The agonies of striving are what it is all about. And when you finally have success it makes it that much sweeter. I hope when I look at these posts five years from now, that I will be far more successful than I can even imagine. Hopefully we all will be right lol
Another small win.
Saturdays have been my bread and butter. It's by far my most profitable day. So it is a little disappointing it was only a small win. But like I have said in previous entries, that a small win is far better than any loss. It was a good session. I didn't fluctuate that much. I was never down more than $50 and was never up more than $50. I wound up ending the session with a $27 win. But this was the second win in a row and hopefully the beginning of a big streak. I am not sure what my plans are for the wsop circuit yet. I was hoping to play this weekend but after talking to the wife, she wants to hang out Friday and Saturday. Women are the rake lol. So this weekend is up in the air. It might be for the best because taking a shot in a bigger tourney and missing would suck. I am not sure what I will do yet. I will figure it out and it will be fine. There are plenty of tourneys to play this year. Missing this weekend wouldn't be so bad but I have had some pervious success in circuit events and thought this could be a breakout event. O well, I will keep this thread updated with what I choose to do and how it goes. Until then, good luck and see you on the felt.
hell yea every poker player needs to set goals and stick to the plan . I wanna play in the wsop but gotta start small bcuz i dont have the money to be playin big buy ins.
Bankroll management is everything. I know several good poker players who are regularly out of action because of poor bankroll management. They take too many shots. They play above their roll. They go broke. Start small and grind it up. That's what I am trying to do. Good luck!
Finally a three figure win lol
After collecting a bunch of small wins, I finally have a decent win. I played my usual 6-12 oe game the other day. It was a tough day for me. I battled through and I am so glad I stuck it out. Originally, I had dinner plans with my in laws but because they were cancelled, I was able to play a little bit longer than I normally would. That was a huge turning point. Had I left when I was suppose to, this entry would have been completely different. I was getting crushed. My first three hands, aa26, a236, and kk23, got hammered. I hit good flops, got many bets in ahead, and lost every single one. Quickly, I ws down $200+. Then I got whittled away further after some bad beats to down $500. I tried not to get down on myself, but it was really frustrating. I was playing solid poker and the payoff was not there. But, patience is a virtue and I stuck it out. I went on a nice run and took down a couple big pots. 2 hours later I was up $102 and called it a day. It was my third winning session in a row. It felt great to have a winning streak after the March I had. It has given me some confidence going forward and makes me optimistice for the summer and Vegas. As for the circuit, I have come up with a plan. It does not appear like I have the time or bankroll to play their big events. The Easter holiday has me committed to family and I do not want to disappoint them. And buying in for a big tourney without regard to proper bankroll management scares me. So I have decided to play some of their cheaper events, satellites, and survivor events. I will play one more cash session before I take on this next quest. Hopefully I can make it four in a row winning sessions heading in to tournament play. I am feeling good and I am playing good (well for the grammar police lol). I believe this could be my jumping off point. This could be the beginning of where it all starts to come together. In any regard, good luck and see you on the felt.
all right finally placed in top 3 on a free roll. now to take this one down and buy into a tourney for real money later tonight.
