Its a combination, and whether it is more of one or the other is dependent upon the player. I have always said though that tournament poker is "surviving the bullsh#t".

i think poker is mostly a luck game, and like 5% skill. Because you need to know the time and right time to bluff and bet
poker is a game of skill. this is why the same ppl... "skilled" ppl are profitable consistantly. it would be impossible to make a living off of a game of luck.
NLHE poker imo is 30% luck. most all in hands are 63/37 some are 70/30, pp over pp is 80/20, drawing to two pair, behind post flop is usually 75/25 ish, str8 and flush draw is rougly 65/35 post flop.
In general, i LOVE ppl that think poker is luck, I eat these fishies 80% of the time. I do also hate when these ppl get lucky. i wonder if ppl knew their odds, would they make some of the same fish calls.
no limit poker is a skill while limit poker is a science, but both only consist of about 30% luck....
I would say luck plays a larger factor in online play compared to live play. Clearly you must possess skill in both genres!

Much more skill involved than luck. Winning players over a long period cannot just be luckier than others.

I think most ppl dont see it that mathematically.. It is still a game on luck,,, and phil ivey (a pro) is also losing a lot... I mean the odds are always in favor of the casino...

definitely skill, a lucky player will always end up a losing player in the long run. in a big MTT its a mixture of both for sure but overall a skillful player will always be better off than someone who relies on luck.

I think that it is pure skill game if u wont look in those freerolls or in mirco tournaments.. if we take big tournaments and high stake cash game we can see that there is pure skill only
