I've noticed that drinking coffee or energy drinks seems to improve my play, maybe I have undiagnosed ADD lol and stimulants help my concentrate, but they really do seem to work.
Does anyone else enjoy using stimulants whilst playing poker?

And for some people, too much caffeine or sugar makes them jittery and not able to concentrate or make poor decisions....all in moderation, is my motto. :)
I kinda need the caffeine to stay up and play the poker. lol

Seriously that is interesting, I know many people who drink tons of energy drinks and even see a few while watching the WSOP drink them for the long grind.

coffee sucks...it makes ya have to go to the potty "#2"...i wouldnt recommend it....5 hr shots might do the trick instead....they work great.....although there is a vanilla flavored coffee which is so good!!! try n find it n take a few sips and u will not ever buy a diff 1

I used to drink coffee switched to capos' and now I am off that junk permanently. I used to have a group of acquaintances, " all recovering alcoholics", and they would have a great all weekend poker tourney. Coffee was the drink of choice all weekend! Those old farts could put down some serious amounts!
red bull and some energy pills. They usually make me fully alert when I loose. Oddly I also don't feel as bad.

When I play at the casino, I have sort of a ritual that me and my brother do. First of all we order ONE bottle of beer, before we start. I don't get drunk while playing serious poker, but, I find that 1 beer is enough to take the edge off and calm your nerves. Never more than one. Than I switch to Redbull, and will order those well I play.
Seems to work pretty good for me, as I usually cash in the tourneys and I am profitable at their cash games.
I say cup of Joe and a All In tournament. Better than a day at the amusement park.
PCP is actually classified as a dissasociative, although it can have stimulating properties, I would definitely not recommend playing poker on PCP unless you wanted to eat your computer :DQuote:

When I am at casinos, I drink either the free dr pepper (of course they serve the generic) or free bottled water. I cannot drink beer, otherwise I would be drunk right now.

i think some people can have caffine and play while others will want things to happen to quick and make some bad decisions

when mephedrone was legal I had a lot of success playing poker whilst on mephedrone, I wouldn't recommend taking real drugs and playing poker though, but if you have slight ADD then some form of stimulant, maybe ritalin would likely help you concentrate on the game at hand and gain an advantage.
I wonder if tournaments will ever bring in drug tests for players reaching the final stages of tournaments...
