I think they are two different things - a new user guide is really for people just getting the feel of the site: what promotions are available, do's and dont's, how to do things on the site (there is a LOT of functionality here).

The earning points guide is more advanced - how to complete tasks, escrow, marketplace, bankroll boosts, etc.

I also envision the new user guide as something either completely interactive to actually help the user earn points, or complete with a test at the end that pays points seeing that they've finished the training.
