    raising is an art form, and unfortunatel it's done in crayon in freerolls. Your raise size and holding should depend on three things, position, your table image, and the table image of the people left behind you (or that limp in front). That simple. If the guy to your left calls any raise preflop, make him pay when you have premium. If he folds to big preflop raises, then learn how to price him in. Manipulate the situation with your raises and keep control. That's kind of the point of raising in the first place, to gain control. So ask yourself, how can I get control with this hand preflop. If the answer is "you can't" then you might as well limp and play flop poker, regardless of your holdings.
