At foxwoods you dont have to show...
if no showdown, most places you dont have to show, unless WOSP event
The TDA rules state that the player who made the last aggressive move on the river must show first, or if no aggressive moves were made on the river, first player left of the dealer must show first, although someone who clearly has a winning hand (ie the nuts) is encouraged to show his hand without delay. (Rule 14)
Example. Player 1 bets on the river, Player 2 and Player 3 both call. Player 1 should show his hand first and if Player 2 and Player 3 aren't able to beat Player 1, then they are within their right to muck their hands, otherwise Player 2 should show his hand next and then Player 3.
If someone is all-in then all active players must show their hand when the betting for the hand is over, ie when the betting between any non-all-in players on the river has finished or all but one still active players are all-in. (Rule 13)
Example: Player 1 is all-in and Player 2 and Player 3 have checked it down until showdown. All three players must show their hand at showdown, even if they don't have the winning hand.
Also, something which annoys me is people who only show one card to claim the pot. Rule 14 state that players must show both cards to claim the pot, even if playing the board.
Some casinos and pub/league/home games may have different house rules of course.
TY charlymorton for that post...
