90% luck?? poker is def a game of skill.... a good poker player plays his opponents, not his cards. so luck doesnt even come into play all that often.. if it were 90% luck we wouldn't see the SAME ppl every tourney year after year at the final tables. the pros aren't lucky... theyre good.
just my 2 cents
A Crack dealers first couple of Rocks are free too. Is what i meant.
Just like casino comps.
90% luck maybe online. But live is about 45 - 50% luck
Only read the first page, but given the nature of the post and the OP who started said thread, strongly disagree. When I first started playing online, started on AP and was only 14 or 15 at the time, so, didn't have a method to deposit, got into freeroll games and ran up my roll, during the times I was older and just didn't want to deposit, I'd run up my PS fpp's and things of that nature... grind micro stakes on more than one occasion into thousands. (The latest, due to a software glitch, used points to register the Saturday of 4/16 into a miniUBOC that I won for $3.1k and then heebed to about $20 or so playing 2/4PLO.)
Whereas I can attest to being a grinder and being of solid mind and skill to achieve such results, for others it is MORE advantageous to be in a higher-buyin game where the thought process differs from low-mid stakes, those that can't support investing the time to work their way up, or, to those that are just comfortable with their skill set in order to do so.
Although you personally are enjoying the advantages of earning "free" money, still think it's a far too generalized statement to make when referencing how any one individual can maintain a bankroll and/or succeed.
To those that are looking to deposit:
Maintaining a solid BR management and game selection are going to be your biggest factors in how you do, not a server's RCG or the amount you chose to put on. You can play perfect poker, and still lose, just remember that. So long as you're making the most +EV moves at the right times, statistics correlate that you will be profitable over time, so keep making solid plays and utilizing good judgement and you'll be just fine.
Oh, ya, best of luck to everyone! (FR'ing a BR or depositing all the same. =) )
I agree in the short term luck has a huge influence but over the long term if you keep playing correctly and getting good odds with the correct plays the luck will even out the skill factor will outweigh the luck factor it is all about volume to control the varience
good players know how to win over a long period of time, find a game you are really good at it, limit level or whatever and go at it..
I just deposit to get a first Deposit bonus to clear for additional free money...
Depends, you can start from your winnings here and go to micros or deposit and move to higher stakes and/or higher tourneys.
After a nightmare attempting to withdraw without having made a deposit, I just routinely make a min deposit when I download a new room. This usually expedites easier withdrawals when I build a bankroll...Although most Merge sites have a tendency to make withrawals as difficult as possible anyway.
wow i havn't attempted to get money off carbon yet.. i am sure i will have to go through hooops
i agree, no need to deposit, grind your stack up from the freerolls
grinding from freeroll wins is a hard road for most people for some depositing is a better way to go I myself wouldnt but to each their own.
thanks for heads-up
agreed i have been playing there since 2005 the same year that i joined i won maybe $1500 without depositting there was a wait a week policy on freeroll winnings but if you use the freeroll money to say play a tourney and you place then you can withdraw it
yeah grinding the freerolls for some cash is hard to do anymore. since black friday the freerolls have gotten alot bigger on carbon. the one at midnight used to be like 2200 players and now its over 3800 players.
I got up to 110 bucks yesterday playing on carbon from freerolls and then grinded it up. Then back down... Faaacckkk
the freerolls at carbon from this site seem 2 pay out generously 4 SURE
EVEN PROS PREFER SMALLER TORNEYS WITH KNOWN OPPONENTS>new people r unpredictable as 2 strengths and weaknesses
are the frerolls the only way 2 get cash here?
here at pokerowned? if that is your question then no you can also use your points that you make in PO client which I strongly hope you are a shark before entering that tank. You also can just keep racking points till you get about 560 for $1 at Carbon or 2650 points for $5 at Carbon.
i agre you can grind in freerolls
yes the freerolls are a good opportunity to get cash without dfepositing
to many freerolls to waste your hard earned money
you only need a couple dallors to keep you busy or get started.
its not gud idea for deposit too many ppl in deposit freeroll might as well play freeroll HORSE and HOLDEM but v.difficult to win in those best wud be fun steps and double up sngs if u play careful u can win but if u lose play freeroll HORSE and HOLDEM
Deposting isnt a problem if your a player....most people lose their money in online poker....for us that dont...depositing is not a problem.
I chose not to deposit, was tempted but I wouldn't mind grinding from freerolls. Basically, I'm just playing for fun.
I deposited one time. Just so I can get verified.
to many freerolls on alot of sites to deposit anywhere especially for the US players like myself if the site shut down for us also. so i wouldn't lose any spent cash out of my pocket at least
interresante
So OP is saying that he does not have money and for that he is NOT a fool.
It's good to play here but some ppl don't want to play 0.01/0.02 blinds.
Its all relative. $3.30 rebuy is a big touney grind for me. I make $50, go grind in those. Make $50 go play .25/.50 ring game and blow chips like a drunken sailor - very fun. THen rinse and repeat. I sometimes cash in them. More fun. But would never deposit cash overseas again - Absolute raped me when the FBI shut down the US...
@Flint...Gd point about verification - I did deposit a minimum amount 1x through Wire transfer - the only way I could do it. THat process sucked.
yeah these days you have to deposit to get verified, so gl is all i can say..you cant make any real money if you are not verified
That is why if I want to sit at a cash table on-line I observe the table before I even sit down ...i dont do dat
ITS all fishy to me
