if you ask me start with sng tournement end be tight
i prefer cash, i think low buyin tournaments tend to be turbos which are higher variance :(
it depends on your style of play.. some people can play great in tournaments, which require alot of preflop skills espceially later in the game where your around 10-20bb+ deep.. but others are great in post flop situations with a deep stack 100bb+ deep.. they are two different animals and it depends on your play, and what works best for you.
start with cash build a bankroll and play tight on tourneys
It all comes down to mentality really and style of play. If you can sit there for hours at the same blind level and play smart/tight then go cash obviously. If you find yourself getting 'bored' at folding over and over and not seeing much action around you even, then maybe tourney play is better suited to some extent. Also depends on what your starting bankroll is to a large extent.
gl in either one you choose.. you can play both as well
I am confued some of you seam to use turnaments as a term that inclueds SNG's and some donot. I know from playing I did years ago that in my mind they are differnt but it is hard to tell who inclueds Sit in Go as part of the meanin of turnament and who does not.
I agree with this... its a 10 player sit and go, and all you have to do is make top 5 and you get double whatever the buyin was. I think this is probably the best way to build up a small bankroll, then if you like playing MTT's you can start on those once you have the money to play in a few tourney's without eliminating your entire bankroll
Cash is good to get a little boost in your br. If you really hate cash, then sngs are the way to go. Play a small ratio of mtts and hope to get a good score.
a sng will be the easiest for you to win but make sure it is not a turbo sng or a hyper sng normal blind speeds
Both are good if you can play. They obviously take a different strategy though.
An affordable sit n' go. You start out with the same chips as everybody, and it doesn't last that long. Plus, if you keep winning, you can build a nicer bankroll. But pick a game that you're really good at though.
tournaments is much better you can take more experience from them than from cash games
All depends on ur style of play n what ur comfortable with.
I would start by building at least $50 of there money before doing anything! After that, I would start by playing 5 of each genre and see which you do the best at. After that I would specialize in whichever one you win the most.
Cash can be quite a grind. Depending on the site/network you are on you can try starting with Double or Nothing SnGs. These are available on Merge and Revolution. I know on Merge you can buy in for as little as $1+fee, it's 10 handed, top 5 win $2. This can be a grind as well, but tight straight forward play usually gets you to the money. With the straight forward play it makes it easier to try and multi table these games. Traffic can be slow on weekdays. These are better on the weekends.
Nothing beats the PO freerolls though. You risk nothing for a chance at cash and getting the points to enter is easier than grinding out the money at cash tables.
hmm I agree, freerolls are the best, then sng's or tournaments.
you will get a lot of experience when playing those.
but I never understand why $1 is so little to you guys, that's just standard on any pokersite.
I wish there were really micro limits of a few cents.
play sit n goes & get plenty hoes
go with tournaments there will be tighter players playing cash games which will be hard to win money at but tournaments will be more bad players and big final table pay outs
i start with the freeroll tournament then build my cash up to play the other tounaments or cash tables.
one or another you'll have to be pacient, winning money take some time
This thread is still going? hahah is there any actual progress being made on the building your bankroll?
Study the game first...Then practice
tourneys the rake is too damn high
MTTs are the best, trust me ;) much more fun and much more cash to win than in normal Sit & Go tourneys
it really depends on control over yourself. if you can make up your mind that you are going to play super tight and mostly post flop and no other exceptions then you might go for cash games. if you have a bad gambling habit once in a while then i would say steer clear of the cash tables!! just go by the tourneys as they have cheap buy-ins and big prize pools.
is good to play at turnaments for firrst time,
SNG / Tournaments.
Both goes on me.
I can not increase the bankroll, dialed up to 100 and merge.
I would like to better my bankroll, but having a hard time finding my rythem.
