Resist Being a DONK

Several of the tourneys I've worked hard to gather entry points for, and registered hoping to enjoy a game, have been a bummer. This is because it seems some players can't resist donking all in pre-flop constantly. Is this a strategic way to play? Is playing like that really fun? Can you prove you have any skill at all by going all in every hand until you get lucky or wind up donking out early in the tourney? I don't know why you bother to register and play a tourney at all if you need to play like that. I could see an occassional "all in". By why make all the other players miserable until you finally lose. Please, find another strategy to play here, or stop registering on these PokerOwned tourneys. I see comments from the other players during the tourney. They chat unhappy and remarks of distain for the real donkey that won't stop it. Am I the only one that doesn't like this kind of action here? Can it somehow be moderated? :confused:

there are DONKS and FISH everywhere it's a part of poker :P

someone's way of playing no matter how ridiculous can't be moderated lol. that's crazy.

Plain and simple IDIOTS WILL BE IDIOTS!!!! It has to be fun for some cause thats all you ever see them doing and 90% of the time its with shit!! All you can do is avoid them and try not to race unless you have a premium hand and even then they will donk you out ALOT!! I dont mind the idiots that push alot as it makes my decision much easier but what i cant stand is those who have no concept of hand values. Pot odds cannot make up for terrible hand odds regardless of what some will say. Alot here will play some pretty trashy cards like KQ,KJ, ace rag for raises so you have to be careful after the flop.

when you want to beat hi myou have to wait for good hands

Agree with you Abwil to many players think A rag is the nuts. I don't how many times I have had my AA KK AK ex. or premium hands get cracked by A rag because they call my pre flop raise with there trash and im done because they hit their rag card for a pair to bust my AK or they trip there rag card. So I again say I agree

Tighten up your range of hands you play when at the table with someone like this. You have to read the players and play according to how they play, if you was to go to a casino you'll get fish and donks who don't really know what they are doing, it's POKER. At the end of the day its a gamble just be smart when you pick your battles. Atleast playing premium hands you will win most of the time but playing on carbon you will get sucked out alot too.

Well you can't expect alot from a freeroll. However it is not exactly a "freeroll" because it costs to play. There are donks everywhere, you just have to learn how to duck and dodge them.

you want bad players, if you really look they may chip up early but in the end they feed the table with chips. Sometimes you/I will be on the bad end of the stick. You have to remember in a Free Roll you are going to see a lot more bad play than you would say a $20 buy in tourney. Good luck

Learn to play a donk and take their chips. If they are going to flip just about any 2 cards wait for a nice pocket pair or A,T-K and call em if you want free chips... (unless you somehow get super unlucky)

if someone is playing like an idiot, it should make your hands better and your variance lower. Yes suck outs happen, but that is part of poker... i mean it is called any two cards for a reason.

sry but its internet poker so there will always be donks and fish who have no clue...and specially when most these site reward junk play...say want you want but its my beleif that alot of these pokers sites do not deal fair hands and deal certain cards out depending on who calls with what...see way to many stupid runner runner winners where the person clearly shouldnt of called and they still win...thats why you'll never see my put my real money onto a site like carbon and many others

Some people watch to many Tom Dwan videos and think its cool to play super aggressive with absolute nothing. And the worst part is they'll hit something once and awhile and think thats the best strategy. I just had some go all in Q6 os from late position. Really? I called them because I had a bigger stack and took them down (AKos). You have to roll with it. Sometimes the odds work out for you.

Yes they might hit something, but chances are that they will lose there entire bankroll before becoming profitable.

i hate it too, the other day there was someone you told us his cards and went all in every single hand, but instead of loosing with 37 os he take a run of 7 winning hands kicking 5 players out of the tourney including me 99 against 25 making a straight ;(

Donks they are ok , but fishers !! I hate those fishers who call even 3bet with bad hands , grr..

This is what happens when a person can hide behind a computer. Put them in a real world situation and the idea of being embarrassed would put them in check!

This is everyday pokerstars stuff. In freerolls donks always all inn with 72 and AA calls and donk gets a straight...

I think I catagorze a Donkey as someone who plays bad starting hands regardless of raises in front of them. Which I don\'t do so I don\'t think I\'m a Donkey.
I will however chase straights and flushes etc, which I think makes me a Fish. I don\'t mind it though. lol

I completely understand the extremely loose AIs at early stages of FRs, if there\'s a large amount of players. It actually makes more sense to double up, or triple up early so you can survive later stages of the MTT.

BUT in next to all PO freerolls, it would be retarded to do such things. I haven\'t seen any freerolls listed on this forum that have a large enough pool of players that would justify the reasons to risk your starting stack in early stages.

I\'m not a fan of the poor play either.. but I at least understand why it\'s that way. To avoid it, try depositing ...idk?

Exactly, if you're playing a huge pool of players in a FR, you're better off just playing donkish. The blinds are still going to climb rather quickly, reguardless the amount of people playing. ..You're better off trying to find early spots to double up.

well excuse me if i m wrong but each of us started as a donk..the difference is that some has patience and are not playing immediatly and just study to become better...and those who are rushing to bother the others by their annoying calls!:D

i would not say that we all started to be donks, i think if you play first time you can already play good poker if you are not too silly to understand how the game works....you just have to think about your cards and to calculate if you can win or not, it is mathematic and luck in the first hand, and if you do your math right from the beginning you will be better than every donk, and you can do your maths without knowing anything about poker

Looking back now, the IRONY of this OP authoring THIS thread is not lost on me.
