My disclaimer. Not a great or even good Razz player but this is what I do in HORSE to allow me to at least tread water especially later in the game when you can't just not play.
In HORSE the first rotation of Razz just play when you start out with 3 awesome low cards. In later rotations when it is getting to expensive to sit out don't worry about trying to win a big pot. If your hole cards are face cards and your door card is an Ace, two or even a three and most people are folding before the action comes to you, just look at the remaining door cards. If they are all higher just raise and try to pick up the bring in and the antes. So even with KQ3 and the 3 is the door card I will try to steal it right there. I'm not looking to get into a big showdown.
If you get called and your next up card is less than the villains up cards or the villain either pairs or has a card that is higher than 8 just push at him again. There is no 8 or lower requirement but it is a good baseline. Now if you get a lot of callers then slow down if you don't improve. However, at the higher levels we are really looking to isolate and survive until a game comes that you are stronger at or you get a true monster hand.
When the antes really start rising you should be able to represent a good starting hand especially if you have been tight. I always get a laugh when people try to bluff people out and all their up cards are paired or face cards.
Like the other stud variations you need to pay attention to all the up cards even of the people that folded.
At the lowest level it is unlikely you will be able to get people out. To many gamblers or people that are clueless about the game. So super tight is super right at that level.
razz is a great game ... probablymy next favorite to holdem.
Razz is seriously frustrating. How many times do I get hands that start A234 ,then I get KKA.
razz is tough you need alot of luck its the draw of the cards
yeah its tough, you need to know 4 breeds and also luck
Razz (and the other Stud games) make people's heads hurt because it forces them to actually use it. There's a lot more to pay attention to in a Stud hand compared to Hold 'em.
Razz is nice game, but traffic on grinding is no to good
Lots of people are saying it's all luck in Razz. I don't particularly like razz, but it's mostly because of the way folks who don't understand odds and how to read the table lay play it. It's no more "pure luck" than any other limit game.
I love razz and all those types of games. Some other cool ones are 2-7 low ball and badugi. They are a good change from grinding PLO or NLHE all the time.
Oh my.. Razz is a wonderful and fun game. Yah' can know if you got the nuts or not.
Unlike the majority, Razz has (and may always be) my favorite game to play.
First found Razz in Carbon HORSE at 10. I enjoy HORSE, so naturally, i enjoy razz too.
Razz is fun and easy play.
I really like razz! It was a little complicated at first, but once you get it it's fun.
yea I love razz pretty cool game! You need to be patient and wait for those low hands!
lol. I'm surprise3d there are this many people that love Razz as much as I do. Everyone else I know always complains when it's time to play Razz in Horse
All poker is about luck. You are lucky to flop a set and stack someone with aces. In HORSE freerolls or low buy in tourneys, I don't play a hand until razz lol. So many suckers willing to call you down with A2x. It's the 5 lowest cards but it starts with the highest of your low card. It's a great game to abuse fish. Money to made, money to be made
I like razz seams like a simple game but theres a little thinkin involved!
i love horse but stud kill u,razz 2 but razz is more easy to read
Have you trieed 2-7 lowball. Omaha high low deuce to eight makes my head hurt.
