Online Poker : Cash games V.s. Tournaments



So i decided to make this thread, i had about $40 on Carbon and played Mtt's ran horrible went down to $1 and made that $1.97 into $12.54 at 2c/4c, thinking about switching to cash games online, o love cash games live and im thinking cash games might be more profitable online, im not tied to staying in a tourney for 4-5-6 even 7 hours in some cases, all sorts of advantages in cash games, u get a fat stack and u dont feel like playin anymore u can just leave


Thoughts?

quit, I made a killing at that buy in in PLO on Carbon and blew my roll on fishes and donks thinking all 4 cards were god. Have fun on the cash tables

I prefer tourneys. I HATE rake in cash games! They just.. Just... Take... Steal your money! I like to play reg tourneys with small fees. That way you have a better chance of winning.. Generally.

if u got rakeback .. and ur a grinder cash games work.. if your not and rely on good fortune.. play tourneys :)

the key to cash games are limiting your losses. Dont sit down with much of ur roll. So if u lose no biggie and u wont play scared since you dont have all ur money on the table

i believe cash games take more skill than a tournament.. im with you RV that cash games are more profittable.. iv'e lately been readjusting my game at the tables, and cracking leaks in my game to start making a profit.. its a absolute donkfest down at .02/.04

i think if you roll yourself right, and use correct bankroll management.. your be in 10nl soon enough by the sound of how your playing.

I play cash games and tourneys as well, but have to improve both, lol. But I strictly stick to a careful BRM, so I am fine.

Much rather play tournaments, they are a little more forgiving

I think the tourneys are slightly less donkish than the cash tables, if donkey play tilts you.

cash and tourneys well i like play sit and gos i like tooo much

i like both. In cashgames you win big, you lose big. In MTTs you dont risk much, but you also dont win, usually. At least didnt happen to me.In 3 years, i just won twice a respectable sum

well i like play tournaments and cash oo but i think tournaments ill be better

I think that SNGs and MTTs keep you from seeing some of the wild variance swings you see in cash games.

well right now since online poker is not allowed in us the tournaments suck on value.. not enough ppl., cash games are better

mtt thats all i play sng rarely cash games never.

i prefer tournaments because for a small $1 $2 investment you can make $100-$250 so rather do that then grind cash for nickels and dimes

yeah but how many times do you have to spend $1 or $2 to get there??????

Cash games are where it's at. Remember that we're playing poker here, not chess.

Most of time, I see ppl going to the casinos to vent their bad energy and try to relax with a few free drinks at a winning table or something.

Tourney play like watching Jason Mercier try to bluff out Phil Ivey, is, like watching a nerd try to pick up a girl not enogh action.

i prefer cash games its easier also you can read an opponent more easy but you can large mtt's also if you very comfortable and have alot of time

I have always tried to buy in to a cash game with no more than 2.5% of my BR. Just in case you drop the first stack, you are still able to rebuy without much reservation.

I love playing cash, but it can be such a grind. You really need to put a lot of effort into cash games. Table selection is key especially on a site like carbon where the traffic can be sparse. It's also incredibly frustrating at the .02/.04 tables. These players generally are maniacs and it can be extremely frustrating and decimate your roll. Once you get to the 10NL or 20NL tables it gets to be a little better, but now the fish are less and less. You can find an edge over a thinking player if you are good enough, but it's much more challenging than it used to be pre-BF.

I would rather play online poker tournaments because of the size of the tourneyies

all depends on ur style of playi think, i u like to see alot of flops n r solid w/ur reads n play good post-fop poker, then cash may be ur cup of tea.

not him you man has that to see many aspects of the game you tint that to know where play well

cash is more profitable at short time but sometimes tournaments pay very well cheap

i have made money on carbon so easily and lost it for dumb reasons

personally i like tournies ,but when i get bad beat i go to cash game to unwind
