gl in your poker journal i hope it works out for you.
I just finished the daily mission freeroll on carbon and I cashed in this tournament for the first time.
I finished 19th out of 298 and I won enough money to cover the buy in for the two tournaments that I played to get tickets for the daily mission and then some.
I snook into the money on this one and then I managed to get pretty deep.
My bank roll on carbon right now is a little over the 30 dollar mark and I used up my vip points again.
My goal this month is to not play as much poker and spend more time making money on swagbucks so that I can build up a bankroll to play live poker.
My poker goal for this month is to play what poker I have to in order to qualify for the freeroll tournaments this month on carbon.
These tournaments are fairly easy to qualify for so I plan to qualify for and play in most of them.
I also would like to win each of these tournaments but that would be greedy of me since there are so many po comrades playing on carbon as well.
As for my last hand in tonights daily mission freeroll I had a pair of fours and I went all in. I had two callers both of which had much bigger stacks than I. I had less than five big blinds.
Soon after the first break I had ten big blinds or less and I was in this situation for pretty much the rest of the tournament so it didn't surprise me that I went out the way that I did. What surprised me was that I was able to make it so deep.
seems this poker journal was shortlived or the poker carreer was abandoned all together....hmmmm....no poker results or shit here really...play more post more...something
well maybe next time you get better luck but you wont to be call with 99
Ehh, its poker. Sick beats, but Im sure youve beat someone luckily.
Not bad lol. Thanks for the updates.
I played the daily mission freeroll on carbon a little earlier today and I didn't do so great.
I was eliminated on an all in shove, I don't really remember what hand I had, I had less than ten big blinds and I don't remember what the called had.
The hand that got me into trouble was a stupid play in hindsight.
I was in middle position and I had ace jack suited. Preflop I raised to three big blinds (it was folded to me).
The big or small blind re-raised all in.
I took into consideration that I had a pretty big hand and I had a bigger stack than the opponent and I called.
If it were a situation where I didn't have a bigger stack than the opponent then I would of folded without a second thought.
In this situation I should of just folded.
I guess my thinking was that this is a freeroll so maybe this guy is kind of nuts and he doesn't really have anything and if I call him then I still have chips left if I lose this one.
Well he had a pair of kings and he connected on the flop.
Sometimes I just make dumb decisions and this was one of those decisions.
we all get impatient at times and it costs us.
In the freerolls, you've got to be more suspicious of bluffers than in a normal game. Don't beat yourself up over it.
Im still looking at making money again I have been so card dead on Carbon it's not even funny I guess that's poker though.
I just played the $2.2 sunday tournament to earn a daily mission tournament coupon. I didn't win. I built up a good stack but then I made a stupid mistake and I made a call I should have.
My last hand I went all in preflop with a pair of jacks and there were two callers and I lost.
A few hands before that is when I really lost the tournament. Preflop I had king-queen offsuite and I flopped a ace high straight. The opponent that beat ended up having a full house or quads, I don't remember which. Anyways after I flopped the straight I checked it and then he checked. On the turn and river I checked and the opponent raised. and I called. On the river he made his hand and as I'm checking to him I'm thinking he can only beat me with quads(a jack fell on the flop and another jack came on the turn or river) or a full house. I lost this hand but I didn't lose all of my chips at this point but this was pretty much where I lost the tournament because that put me down to between five and ten big blinds.
gl on your Journey Joe!
I just finished the daily mission freeroll and I didn't do so good.
I set my alarm to take a a short nap before the freeroll but I set my alarm for the wrong day so I ended up starting about fifteen minutes late.
My first hand that I played I over did it cause I was still kind of groggy.
I was able to hold on until after the first break but I didn't last very much longer after that.
Poker is about making good decisions. When you got it in w KK and AA v smaller PP, you had HUGE positive equity (81%). You have to take those chances---that is what good poker is. You will win if you keep making those decisions. Trust yourself!
I just finished the daily mission on carbon and I finished 85th out of 246 so I did alot better than the last one but I didn't make it into the money.
I just finished the daily mission on carbon and I finished 55th out of 325.
I almost made it into the money.
On my last hand I had ace ten offsuite and I had less than ten big blinds so I went all in cause it was folded to me.
I think I was in middle position and the opponent that called was on one of the blinds.
The opponent called with 8-3 hearts and I think his eight caught on the flop.
In this tournament the top 54 positions got paid so i'm the bubble boy.
8 f-ing 3?
When I play tournaments I seem to always get into ten big blind range and that isn't really that great.
I need to win more with the hands that I do play and I need to play more hands.
I just finished the daily mission freeroll on carbon and I didn't do very good, I didn't even make it to the first break.
I played the daily mission on carbon and I didn't do very well.
But I am deep in the bovada/po freeroll. I'm on the final table right now, but I don't think I'll be there for much longer.
I just finished 3rd in bovada/po freeroll!
This is the first time that I have played this tournament.
Now I think I have enough to play zoom poker or whatever its called.
I say run while you can...don't wait for the claws too sink in too deep...lol...have is main thing.
I just finished playing the daily mission freeroll on carbon and I placed in the money, 51st place.
For awhile on I've been thinking that I should try and play cash games on carbon because the most common live action around my part of the world is cash games, but after putting my bankroll on life support I think I should probably just stick with my original plan of playing double or nothing sng's on carbon.
yeah that sounds like that sucks and the deepness compared to the spot u were in should have been a little setup u would think
I just finished the daily mission freeroll on carbon and I finished in the money 45th place.
Nice finish Joe!! Good job!
I just finished the $500 daily mission freeroll and I finished 96th place out 354.
I didn't make it to the money, but I did make just past the first break.
I think after this month I'm going to concentrate on playing free poker over on cardplayer poker.
Unless carbon comes up with another freeroll deal next month.
thanks for the positive comments and interest.
I just finished the $500 daily mission freeroll and I think I have my best finish so far for this particular tournament.
I finished 17th out of 298 with the top 54 positions paid.
I got good results but again I spent most of the tournament at ten big blinds or less.
I'm comfortable playing the short stack and I think I'm pretty damn good with the short stack but at the beginning of the tournament when I have a large stack I seem to not really know what to do.
So I took some time off from po and carbon to play on the free poker site hosted by card player dot com and I didn't make any money on there. On card player they have these step tournaments (and I think they recently just changed the format to make it easier to qualify) where in the final tournament is a six person sng and all six players make money, I think the total prize pool is 10k but I didn't make it that far.
And then I started playing on carbon again and I really like their sngs.
I have success but it seems that my bankroll bounces between 20 and 30 dollars.
I think its because I get cocky when my br gets near 30 and then I start playing stupid.
I am comfortable playing the $1.10 and 2.20 double or nothing sngs but only two tables at a time and for the most part I have done pretty good at those.
I just recently starting playing the $1.10 6 person hyper turbo but only one table at a time because those move too fast, and I have done pretty good at those too.
I need to move past this $30 plateau.
Right now my balance is at $30.14 on carbon.
Last week bovada sent me an email saying that I had won $500 in their daily drawling promotion that they have going now.
So I got really excited, but I didn't tell anyone about it, and I started thinking about how I was going to spend the money cause since I am unemployed that is a lot of money. Later that night bovada sent me another email saying that they made a mistake and that to make up for it they gave me a tournament coupon for $6o I think.
I didn't really want the coupon cause I haven't had a whole lot of success at the big tourneys, but I used the coupon that same night and I bombed the tournament.
I wrote them an angry email stating that I wouldn't be making a deposit of my own money again.
I try to think about the results and not the bad beats but sometimes it just seems that the bad happens way more than the good, But I try to keep plugging away and learn as much as I can along the way
I think I have found my new favorite game on carbon.
As I mentioned I have been grinding away at the sng's, especially the $1.10 double or nothings, and I recently started to play the $1.10 hyper turbos and I did really good at them today.
$37.66 is my current balance on carbon.
I'm going to try and make a run at the sng leader board contest that they have on carbon playing just the $1.10 hyper turbos.
Also has anyone met the requirement for the 10k casino freeroll over on carbon. I'm sure that I met the requirement on thursday or friday but I haven't received a tourney coupon yet.
yea i wouldnt care too much about the results of the hand because i know i played a good tournament even though i busted out there still good cards and most of the time we'd win with those cards i got busted out with k's he had a A 10 ..caught the A on the river but im still happy with the way i played so we'd win alot more than losing. I'd like to see some of those guys stats. I bet it isnt great.
I've got $40.82 on carbon right now and I am making a push for the two-a-days promotion that they have going on right now in addition to the sng leader board.
With the two-a-days promo you have to earn two points each day for a month to get into a freeroll tournament at the end of the month.
When I was I playing the double or nothing sng it would take me longer to earn the two points than it would if I play the hyper turbo sng and there is potential to make more money as well.
I think I am going to save my vip points and use them to play in a big money double or nothing.
During the first week of the month I missed a day so I won't qualify for the two-a-days promo over on carbon.
But since then I have switched gears and started playing the tournaments.
I do mostly late registration but not all the time because if you wait too long to late reg for a tournament you get stuck with a really small stack.
I've had three relatively big scores since I have started playing mtt's but after the first two big scores I've pissed most of the money away by playing in the higher buy in tournaments and completely blowing it.
Before today the most money I had in my account (after the above mentioned urination) was no more than $100.
Now I've got $133.17 and I am instituting some bank roll management rules right now.
I'm going to play just the $1.10 and $2.20 mtt's until I get enough vip points to play in the $11 mtt's.
Carbon changed their vip program and now you can't use vip points for the $1.10 tournaments or exchange vip points for cash, which I think really sucks.
The best that I finished in the mtt's so far has been 2nd place, which in some of the mtt's pays very well when compared to the buy in.
I see The mtt's that pay more than just final table as three separate tournaments.
First part, make it to the money.
Second, make it to the final table.
third, win the tourney.
The third part I haven't done yet on this site, but I have made the final table four or five times.
I just finished the $600 gtd mtt on carbon in 8th place and I think the buy-in was $2.20.
I think this is the second day in a row that I have made a final table.
My cash balance is now $147.09.
welldone, is there anymore progress in this challange or do you stop to play? would like to read some more, because i also started with nothing and already gor out 40 bucks on carbon up till now ;)
For how long do you play these $1.10 hyper turbos.
Its Joe again.
I am playing a $1.10 nine player sng on ignition right now and I just got a pair of aces and I pushed all in cause that's pretty much a standard play for me. And I actually got someone to call, the blinds are still 30/15 and I was in first position and the caller was in later position. The caller had a pair of fives and I won the hand so I almost double up from a little less than 15 hundred up to almost 29 hundred.
Earlier today I was playing the same sng and the same situation, where I had a pair of aces in first position, but it was the very first hand of the sng! and someone in later position called with a pair of freakin two's and I lost.
my aces got cracked last night and then again earlier this afternoon!
Right now my bankroll is really low and I don't really want to talk about why its really low, but I did just start a journal on here...,
I am going to keep playing the regular $1.10 sng's on ignition until I earn enough poker points to buy into the $5.5 regular sng's.
