I need to play higher stakes

I'm trying to build a bankroll with my PO winnings, but these micro buy ins are absolutely plagued with super donks. I don't have to worry about getting any action with my big hands, but they don't mean much when no one will fold. I just got knocked out of a tourney where 3 people at my table where actually trying to out donk each other going all in(trying to beat each other with the worst hand). That combined with the one, two, and three outers that I see hit constantly, playing on carbon, I don't see how I could possibly win a tourney unless I'm playing in a field where people value their chips ie. higher stakes.

Micro MTTs can be tough since there is so much luck, but if you can chip up and just play real tight they are pretty easy money.

gl i agree to a point, however there is plenty donking at higher levels too, you can do it, making it to the 1st break is the tuffest imo

If you can't beat the micro donks, the high-stakes donks are going to send you over the edge. A donk is a donk is a donk. Being able to identify and exploit them, at any level, is the key.

I think the 1 to 3 dollar mtts deepstack and the 1 dollar rebuy w addon tournys are a perfect place to take down a nice profit to be able to be able to move up to @ least the 5.00 buy ins. If u can grind your way to a couple final tables at the 5 dollar buy ins the 11.00 buy ins fields are smaller with bigger payouts and its much easier then for you to see a good increase in you br. Grinding satellites and just being patient and calling when you feel your ahead and folding big hands when your beat you just might find yourself at the ft of a big guarentee. Then its a plane ticket to vegas and your all in......

I get what you mean, that's why it's best in my opinion to hit some mtts. Early on the play can be donkish, but as the money nears, you will notice people playing better.

not really true.. a buddy of mine crushes $15-30 sngs and gets crushed at $5s.... its just adusting to your opponents.. and finding out how to exploit them..ex: of course $5 games r gonna have guys calling u down w 3rd best hand, so bluffing wont work a lot... in $30s regs r gonna either fold or jam w 11bb... so u can exploit that .. and so on

sometimes they seem to get worse the higher you go and others its like taking candy from a baby but its different for everyone

How about doing small tourneys? PokerStars is great! If you win like a $5 buy-in tourney, you can get like over 1K.

will always need to raise money, we have to risk a little more, so the high stakes are so dangerous but if you can win them you have a good prize.

just stay on your A game and you will get to higher stakes. I personally have come up alot from po freerolls and played micros and built 2-3 thousand dollar bankrolls a few different times within the past year. It is possible lol. Good luck to you.

I've found that I would have alot of problems going out of tourneys early with hands like JJ and AK vs a bad player who calls / shoves with KJ type hands and wins. But lately I been playing the deep stack tourneys on BCP (which seems like every tourney now) and have had alot of success lately.

That's not entirely true, because I was told something by a pro friend of mine once and I have come to realize that it is the truest statement for poker. He said "if you can't be better than the lowest people in a group then how can you ever expect to be better than the best." A true poker player knows how to adjust his play to go against ALL opponents. When you play in a tourney if you can't adjust your play and play everyone like you are playing against pros, then that doesn't mean you should be playing against pros. It means you should learn how to adjust your play. Even in high stakes play there are donks and if you can't play against them then you will just continue to lose, no matter how high of stakes you play. For example, the WSOP main event has one of the softest fields of all time. Real pros take advantage of the soft field and if you notice there are always 5-7 pros in the top 10 and 3-5 donks. That means the lucky donks are on top and the pros manipulated the unlucky donks to gain chips. Stop complaining and educate yourself on how to play at lower levels (go old school style. Tight Agressive).

Freerolls can screw up ur gane though! You should play them the samw as any other tourney!!

I play like a fish in freerolls just cause it takes to long and win more at freerolls doing that if it's a po game I treat like a real game like ill fish it out on a fr till I get like 20k then tight as hell, just can't get over the hump on bcp stuck around 5-9 dollar bankroll

For the most part my strategy in freerolls is to go all in every hand until I double up or bust, once I double up I play as aggressive as possible to chip up, once I get to around 10k I will start to play serious.

I wish I hand the funds for nosebleed stakes, but if I did I'd probably be out enjoying my money.
