Do po tourneys stilll have late reg?
It really depends on the blind structure of the tournament. If it's a turbo, you're probably going to be registering with 1-2 bb's if you register that late. Some people like to register late for a rebuy, and register, take the rebuy, and then the add-on. If you're playing a deepstack tournament with long blind levels, you don't put yourself at a big disadvantage by registering late.
Personally I always try to register within the first blind level, lots of monkeys throwing chips around then.
But as is the case with most poker questions, the answer is "it depends".
Playing from the start of the tournament +:
-Blinds are lower
-Weak opponents give away their money
-You don't have to face big stacks at the start
i will reg late sometimes, only if i missed a little bit of time. if you enter a game to late, you are in need of a quick double up just to be hovering around average, i don't like that.
i dont mind doing that in the $1 1.5k rebuy.. you double up once you can make some good $
I rarely register late, like to play it from the beginning
pros/cons: pros: getting in late and doubling up or rebuy than adding on, sometimes that puts you close to average stack with 1/3 of the field already out give good shot at ITM. cons: your usally short stacked and fighting just to get to be the bubble boy. Odd are generally stacked against you.
what ssugs said basically if its a long blind structure where you can take your time then regging late is a bonus, i tend to reg late because im impatient and if theres a tourney already started i dont have to wait for it lol
I am superstitious about late registering just because I feel like I might of missed a few monster hands. I don't know why but I've always thought that.
ssuglia explained it very well though, it all depends on what kind of tourney it is.
so risky man, usually blinds are quite high by then so doesnt give you much of a chance
I like to register at almost last minute on rebuy and addon 15 minute levels.
I dont like getting in late, seems like I am missing something
always bad for me if i do late reg.
dont like it
Depends on the blind levels and the type of tourney. There are some tournies on merge that have 20 minute blind levels and are deep stack tournies. In those cases I usually wait for about an hour or close to it before I register. If its a normal stack tourney like 2k starting stack and quick blind levels then its dumb to get it. Sometimes just for kicks I will jump into a $2 bounty late with 2k starting stacks and blinds at 125/250 but it really isnt smart in that situation.
Depends on the blinds mainly for me. The later you are allowed to register, and do the quicker your chips have the potential to dwindle down if the blinds are higher. I normally register before it starts. *hugs*
Thanks for all the feedback,,, I think most of the time I'll only sign-up late for the deep-stack tounaments.
If you are gonna have around 30bbs, then its a good move. Its also smart to late reg in a big tourny with big field sizes. Theres not a huge advantage of playing from the start, you can try to build up a big stack but can also knock yourself out of the tourny. And when cooler situations come up, theres not a lot you can do about them. I think you can take away a lot of risk by late regging plus save a lot of time for a long tourny grind.
Like to play it from the beginning i can play more tight..
Cons - you will have a lot smaller stack than a lot of people who have been playing for awhile. pros - you are still in the tourney after a lot of people have already been eliminated.
if the blinds are not to high i would go forit
well if u don't know this , poker isn't 4 ya pal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If it is a rebuy i usually register as late as i can because i double buyin then addon.
I like doing that much later to enter a tournament and more if you go turbo when most are in charge and with luck you can bend and enters fast recovery from then on is another story
all depends on how comfortable u r in urshortstack play
I register for tourneys late sometimes but not on purpose. If it's been running more than a half an hour however, I usually don't. Especially if it's a turbo.
I feel the same way, even if its a deepstack tourney and I'm still close to average if i register late, I still feel like I could have missed out on that stellar hand that would have put me over the top and instead of being about average I could have the chip lead or something.
It does happen to me simetimes, but to do it intentionally is just stupid, especially if you're really late, because, even dough there will be less players left, you will probably be a shortstack, with 10 BBs left, being forced to shove all in on a very wide range of hands to try and steal and make it to the money.
the worst feeling ever , when ur placed in the chipleaders table & pstars keeps giving u hands sop that u can lose to him, better play on time especially on stars
I think I once read or heard saying that went something like this: "the hands that you missed could've been the hands you doubled up with, but at the same time, they could've been the last hands you'd play in that game."
i went into a tourney an hour late once because it was the holidays and was very busy, when i looked i had pocket queens went all in and without much further detail placed top ten and won 20 bucks with very little effort but rare i agree
sometimes u get lucky & win some big chips , but its better to get in early
