Fun Steps experiment
I had an idea on Wednesday to try something with the fun steps. I play the Merge Network on multiple skins as I usually do with any network. I thought it would be interesting to see what kind of money could be made with the fun steps. This is how I have decided to approach these little do-dads:)
1. Using 5 skins on the Merge Network, I will push all in on every starting hand.:) Thats 10 steps a day per skin.(50 step 1's per day)
2. The ones I double up on or better, I will click sit out and fold!
3. This comes out to an average of 3 out of 10 step 2's per skin.
4. After using all 10 steps and pushing with all, I will log off and move to another skin.(Approx. 10 minutes per skin)
Pretty simple!
Over the course of 5 days and approx. 5 hours committed, I have accrued 78 step 2's(All skins combined)
5. On Day 6 I will attempt to play the Step 2's with a very similiar approach to an All-in or Fold SnG!
6. On the Step 3's I will play properly on Day 7 and see what comes out in the wash.
Will update results!.........................

i had a similar concept. i was not always so consistent on the all in
i win more step 2s that way. but do play very agressively. great idea
-
its all about getin it all in at the rite time there lol gl bud they can be a good way to get a free $1 but not easy gl
-
1 more thing. fs 2s are more difficult.
chances are nobody will call you. they play much tighter and the games seem to last twice as long
step 3s are crazy.
i have racked up so many of each and still ended up with nothing

Update: I have currently used 15 of the step 2's and have walked away with three step 3's and one step 2! Time committed: 1hr 22min. total. I must add, I had to adjust my approach slightly, deeper in the game. I waited till blinds hit level 5 to sit back in, then played accordingly! Sidebar: I doubled up with starting hand 3x!

Sounds like an interesting experiment. You might come out with a little money in the end.

i played 10 steps 1s cause i got bored last night and sat out the whole way. made 4 step 2s sitting out
-
I guess I should apologize to those who take the Steps so serious! But I won't:)....LOL
-
lol i hate those fun steps and never play them , gl with that :)
-
ive only ever gotten one step 3 and i didnt win. no $1 for me...
-
Think i won the dollar once, then went to the cash tables and doubled up. lol
That was years ago.
-
Lol, interesting approach for doing this, maybe I will give it a try.
-
i hate when people sit out it usually involves running out the clock that is so annoying
-
Good Luck with the steps. I dont really play them much anymore. I won 1 step 3 and havnt looked back. building my bankroll from the 1$ earned. bankroll is now over 30$.
-
interesting idea. fun steps and freerolls is how to get started if you don't want to deposit. I've had success at both. Good luck in you endeavor.
-
I didn't know you could do that. I thought the steps are tied to 1 account. Like just one person. Still, awesome job. And on step 2's, people sometimes push on the first hand too.
-
i have won a cpl step 3's but it seems the payout just isnt worth the effort There are better ways to start a bankroll IMHO
-
steps are boring....but good when you need to help build your roll.....:p
-
stepsissoboring but ifyoulove it gl to you........
-
Soooo any more updates?? did you ever end up winning anything with your experiment?
-
never played this types , gl to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 23
-
i am gonna go on fun step spree and will let ya'all know if it was worth mine time hmmmm.
-
i had the same idea and actully get alot of step 2's. i end up with about 4 step 3's a week but only win one out of every 5 step 3's

I like the idea for the experiment, being that it is much less time consuming. However, I wouldn't put too much stock in getting the step 2 tickets. I never win less than 50% of the Step 1's, sometimes closer to 80%. The step 2's start to get a little tougher, so I don't think a single double up would be enough to for a sit out and win.
