Unable to use Cake Poker

UPDATE!!!4/20/11

I finally got Cake working, but it is an older version. Here is a link to the older version (not 2.0) which I got from the support team. I was unable to find this online. If anybody else is having problems with Cake, try this version:

1st Try to download and install using THIS LINK

This will make sure you are properly tagged to PokerOwned.

If that doesn't work try this client version:

I have talked about this on the chat on the main page and do not mean to be a bother. Everybody has helped as best they can and I truly appreciate it.

I have to imagine I am not the only person to have this issue, but despite several troubleshooting tactics I have yet to be able to open the Cake poker client. To get you all up to speed on what I have tried so far, I have pasted the following e-mail which I just sent to the Cake Support team @[email protected]:

Hello,

I installed Cake Poker 2.0 via your website. I did this 2 days ago and have since been unable to start the poker client. I have tried the following troubleshooting tactics:

1) Reinstalled .Net Framework 4.0 and 3.5
2) Reinstalled the Windows Service Pack 3
3) Installed all available Windows Updates
4) Re-installed Adobe Flash 10.2
5) Put exceptions in firewalls and anti-virus software for Cake 2.0
6) Shutdown virus blockers and firewalls and attempted to open Cake (still didn't work)
7) Trying all above steps then uninstall and re-install Cake 2.0

Despite attempting all of these steps, I still can't get Cake to work. I try to search for this topic in Google, on your website, and other poker forums and found only 1 similar case but there was no resolution there.

When I try to open Cake, all I get is this (attached picture) in the center of my desktop.

Please help! I want to use your software but will not be able to until this is resolved!

I am posting this thread to hopefully be of help to anybody else experiencing this issue. If you have any more suggestions for troubleshooting other than the ones I have mentioned before please let me know.

I have also tried to find a install for Cake Version 1.0 to try to get that to work and upgrade but have yet to find an installer. If anybody has one, please link to it!

I have since received a response from Hugo at Cake poker and have pasted it here. I use gmail so my response to Hugo's e-mail is above Hugo's response...

It is in regards to the Windows Firewall:

Hello Hugo,

I am only using the default windows firewall. As I stated in the previous e-mail, an exception was created for Cake Poker. Also I tried disabling the firewall and then opening Cake but had the same problem.

To be specific, the firewall is simply called: Windows Firewall.

Another response from Cake. It appears there is a problem with all connections coming fromm the midwest U.S. Can anybody from MN (a state he specifically references) or other midwest states confirm this? I want to forward that info on if it is inaccurate.

Once again, I truly appreciate your quick responses, and hope I have not been too much trouble.

I have not been able to even access the service once, so thankfully no hands have been adversely effected. I can't even create an account.

Is there a place where I can check on updates to this issue? Or should I just keep trying?

I live in Mississippi but I have been unable to connect to the WAR room of cake while the Blackjack and Poker rooms have been running fine. Looks like they have quite a few kinks to work out.

Casino Games sure is fine to run throught Cake Poker, I don't have Wars stuff since I am not using Cake Poker 2.0, using the old one. Prefer that one during some lag issuer.

I FINALLY got Cake up and running, but it was the older version. It only took 14 e-mails...

finally heard back from cake.. they say my acct unactive for almost 2 years.. so disabled it after several attempts contact me.. so i am to make a new acct.. yay.. i get to use zab's cake sign up link.. new name is DonkinDiscin

Im able to get cakepoker up and running but I can't register for freeroll tourneys... It always states:

Tournament Registration Failed Exception.
Cannot complete tournament registration for xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Anyone able to advise?

I am not using Cake Poker , but I saw an amazing advertise in CARD PLAYER magazine. I am sure that they honest.

Glad I could help those who needed the older version! I knew I couldn't be the only one having these problems...

At any rate, after 27 e-mails with support over 3 days (crazy right?) they determined it was my firewall that was stopping it...

Also worth noting: I shut down my firewall (not just opened the ports the suggested) and I still wasn't able to log on. Whatever, the one game I played there, I lost AA to Q6 off. I no longer have any version of Cake on my machine and I never plan to have it again.

Im going to try the older version but when attempting to even(on new version) click on the arrow for finding private games nothing happens. Maybe my problem is the same as someone else above as i created a account there a couple years ago.But didnt like it then so i never even tried to play there.. Im going to uninstall again and reinstall older version. GL me lol

I always have problems with the Cake software, I don't play there often.

Iv had cake poker a while but it seems to DISSAPPEAR from my menu when I log off for day,,,crazy eh ?

Well gefishy, I hope your problems are cured. I had a slightly more dramatic failure which maybe someone here could help me with? I installed Cake poker through Zabs link, it opened just fine, I created an account just fine, I hit the link to go to the tournaments lobby and everything went blank!!! I mean everything.Since that point, my computer will power up but after trying various monitors and cables to eliminate that as the problem I cannot get any info to a screen. Is it possible that some of their graphic sets have either blown or corrupted my video card, or is this a random act of perfectly poor timing.....Guess I'll have to bite the bullet and get the comp tested, try to find out if it's just graphics card or total failure. Needless to say, whether on this old slow computer or if i get my other one up and running, I will not be touching Cake poker software again.If any computer savvy guys have any ideas to help, I would very much appreciate them.

hey the latest cake poker software works fine on my computer, sorry your having this trouble with it not working for you.

I tried cake once and it sucked. Heard from other people it takes forever to get paid from there too. Doesn't sound like the best of poker sites.
