Phil Ivey Wins 9th WSOP Gold Bracelet

Just a few moments ago, Phil Ivey won another WSOP bracelet at World of Poker Asia at Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia. The $2,200 buy-in tournament (WSOP APAC Event #3 - Mixed Event) drew 81 of the best mixed game players in the world, generating a total prize pool of $168,000. The top nine players received a piece of the prize pool and Mr. Ivey received $51,840 after defeating Brandon Wong heads up.

The American pro now has an incredible 9 bracelets under his belt and has climbed to 4th place on the all-time WSOP bracelet leaderboard. Below are the top 5 players of that leaderboard.

2. Johnny Chan 10
3. Doyle Brunson 10
4. Phil Ivey 9
5. Erik Seidel 8

and he won it playing one of my favorite games, 2-7 triple draw.......... congrats to Ivey!

Very nice win for him. Was watching on espn3 until I doze off. He was short with 3 left then switched gears. Some people dont like having these events as bracelet events (mainly because of the small fields and small prizepools) but I think its great. It makes the game bigger and expands it to other parts of the world. Overtime, I think these events are only going to get bigger because nothing is better than a wsop bracelet. Cant wait til wsop in the summer, I love watching all those final tables.

How come we never hear about Phil Ivey anymore? He used to be the biggest name in poker, what happened? Do to think Black Friday had something to do with it?

I watched the stream of him and his opponent heads up. Some pretty decent mixed game action. He just wore him down over time. I wish I remember the opponents name but he played very well against Ivey he deserves some props.

Of course he can. He's a lot younger than Hellmuth. He has a long time left for this fight. I just don't think he cares about it as much as Hellmuth.
