It will be a state by state issue if they want to allow it. No way pokerstars ever comes back to the states. Whats going to happen is the rake is going to be absurd and its going to run by Las Vegas Casinos. You will be playing at MGMonlinepoker ect and will be paying a heft rake structure every site will be 21+ obv. and you will go through intense verification - which i think is needed honestly. And you will be required to do w-2 ons $599+ profits, just like in Vegas.
still nice to see them make strides so we can legalize it though
No comment about Obama the prez,,,, but good news for us USA players
hmm...
why USA did this to online poker is ridiculous...so many other much more important things in the world to take care of than stopping online poker....it was such a good thing the way it was then the govt had to fuck it all up
Wait now it seems like it's going to be even more complicated but I'll do what I have to do.
The only thing that will make it "better" then what it was is that it will now be "regulated" for whatever that is gonna mean. We will never see another pokerstars and never see another situation like FTP (thank god i think we can all agree on that).
These states are in too much debt for us not to allow online poker and just rake/tax the living daylights out of it. The big casinos in Vegas are not going to allow third parties to come in and control the market (like a zynga facebook ect.)
My prediction is that Nevada will be the first state for it to pass. You will have to be a Nevada resident to play. There will be either one big general site.. for instance like a harrahspoker or each casino will branch out and have there own site (dont think it will be this since most ceo of vegas hotels are totally for this but said will jump onto a big market) all about the $$$$ people. Nevada will introduce this site late this year early next year and the rake structure is just going to be over the top. You will see no rakeback options and probably very slim bonus payout options due to tax laws.
All of this will be 21+ and have a strong deposit verification (i could imagine). But I see this starting slow in Nevada and once other states see how much money there pulling in you will see it span across other sites and we will once again all be playing on the same servers own and operated by usa vegas casinos.
sweet stars here i come
So Obama is for legalization, but he haven't legalize it yet
while nevada will be the first obviously, it wont be for just nevada residents. It will be open for all US states that sing on to allow there state to play. if your state allows it you will playing on any of nevada's poker sites. This isnt going to be a each state opens there own poker site LOL but all states will get a share of revenues..
As long as stars comes back and I can steal more money from the crazy Euros, im ok with it!
I think it's a little too early to say that online poker will be "legalized" (it's never truly been ruled illegal to play, just illegal to deposit).
This is a good first step, but there's a long way to go before you'll see Pokerstars or any other site that's not accepting U.S. players make a return to the market.
Goldrushpoker and another site I cant remember will be the first sites to up and running . Goldrush will do away with the pay for points system it has now and change their format and its my understanding Joe Biden has invested In Goldrushpoker by buying up a bunch of its stock. Go figure,no insider information there huh?
Does that mean Pokerstars will be available for US players soon
the gov needs the money, wtf is takeing them so long anyway? i can go to iraq and get a cap busted in my ass but i cant choose to donk off my money at the poker tables?
zab said the casiono are going to start there own sites.... will be big!!!!!1
WOW he just might get the poker players vote
So if luck is defined as "when opportunity meets preparation". Then wouldn't that make it a game of both luck as well as skill?
I personally think within months you will see Party Poker as the 1st to re-open to the US market.
Pokerstars probably not, FTP is dead.
Party Poker is on the good side of the US DOJ, Pokerstars is not
It will take some time to get it all worked out and it's still possible that it will fall through.
It is unlikely that an overseas company like PartyPoker would ever come back to the US market, but who knows? It does look like the US market will be dominated by casinos like South Point, Caesars, and MGM who have already filed for Nevada licenses and will open their own online poker room very soon.

I just hope theres a site that has huge MTTs, Thats what I miss most about pokerstars......Playing in a MTT that can change your life in you win it, like the Sunday Majors! :)
99% sure this will be a state by state thing before its a federal thing. Nevada, California, and New Jersey should be the first 3 states to have some type of intrastate system in place. That's where the big B&M casinos are located.
Looks like things are on the right track for Legalization of it, although I doubt anything happens until after the election.
On the best worst, I think all of washington is so fubar right now.
They should create a political section in the forums somewhere
See Zab I understand that Party Poker is on the good side with Americans and the DOJ but I just feel like they wont come back because the US poker market is going to be controlled by Casinos. Especially since its going to be state by state all the big casinos from a business standpoint are going to jump in and just control the market. I might be completely wrong and I think it would be smart for a Party Poker to just jump back in I just feel like there content with there Market now.
step in the right direction
Now lets see what the states do.......
