Something I find really annoying and just completely stupid to say!!

I've had people say this to me before, and i saw someone say this to another guy last night in a tourney... but when people make a huge donk play and then say hey it's only a $1 buy in... or it's only a $3 buy in... like the reason they called an all-in preflop with 9 2 os is because of the price to enter the tourney. I fail to see how the amount of money it cost to buy in makes you suddenly unable to process thought and makes you do completely random things you wouldn't normally do in a poker game. Instead of saying I act dumb because it's a low buy in, they should be saying just the opposite, I play these low buy in because I'm a stupid idiot. If it were even remotely true that low buy ins make them act stupid then why would the play in those tourneys?? It would only end up costing more money then they would win in the long run, so why would they waste their money just to act like a fool?? Wouldn't it make more sense to play larger buy ins, since apparently that would make them focus and try harder. I don't know, I guess it just makes them feel justified for not trying to better themselves.

I think that people do play looser when it is a low buy in or a free roll. At least I hope that is what I am saying, if not, then there really are a lot of fools.

run into these idiots all the time. all buyins should be treated the same. you should always be focused on taking down any tourney you enter. whether its a 11c bumblebee or the 215$ sunday tourney. they all go onto your stats and will reflect whether you are a winning or losing player. may determine if you find a steady backer in the future

even if your not looking for someone to stake you in future tourneys, shouldn't you want to win every tourney you enter just for the sake of winning and making money. Not to mention all the time they waste since tourneys go on for at the very least a couple of hours. After a play like that I'd much rather have someone go, I suck because I just learned how to play yesterday than have them say sorry my IQ lowers every time I play in a tourney with a low buy-in.

very good post abenz. I notice this all the time too. People playing the same exact stake tournies as me acting like they are better than the micro buy in or dont care about the micro stakes. I know its hard to play you very best A game at the micros but you should still try to play your best... or why play at all?

Well if its some random freeroll that u dont have time for then fair enough but im not gonna throw away a 1,2 or $3 buy in tournament.

people do say this all the time, wh en they make a horrible move and lose. IF i had a nickel for how often this happens,i think i,d have over a hundred dollars from that at least LOL..BUT u will see people say this same thing, at even a little higher buy ins too, I think there are some who play bad and say crap at ALL LEvels too.If u play 10 dollar buy ins, there are still a lotta donks and a lotta excuses there too.and then those people say, "oh, its just 10 bu cks, i dont really care." LOL.. so it happens at all levels....its all relative i guess., to their money.

Ppl deff do this all the time. just yesterday had some jackass push A2 into my A5 after i hit 2 pair on the flop and rivers a 4 outer for a straight but honestly arent those the calls u want. someimes u just gotta get it in with the slight advantage in percentage

very good post, i completely agree, all tournaments should be treated the same... but thats if you're a good player. I'm very happy with ppl pushing with 9 3 in low buy-in tournaments, just more donks to collect money from ;), without them low buy in tournaments would be very tough!

Yes this gets said ALOT in turnys. No different then someone saying in the PO games that its only points or its free. um no its not free it takes time to earn points so that alone makes it not free but buyins are the ones that bothers me.. Im a tight ass in real life so when i buyin to a turny im treating it as a big buyin. Once the game starts it shouldnt matter what the buyin is.

I agree with why play if you arent gonna take it seriously? Im guessing alot of people watch WAY too much TV poker and honestly think thats how your supposed to play LMFAO.. Or they just have no clue how to play and any cards they get look good to them. Its sad that people will play stupid tryin to build a big stack early on too, like you can win a turny early on lmfao.. Our PO games are really no different then the $1,2 or $3 buyins. With people pushing Aj or A10 preflop lmfao or even Ace rag like its the nuts or something lol

Totally agree! And you may find, the majority of these people who claim to play 'stupid' are wasting one dollar after another...hmm, makes me wonder just how much it all adds up to at the end of the day..hmm

hmmm ... weird ... guess so far I'm the only one that sees this significantly different

1) its their money and they are entitled to play however they want

2) their bad play is your profit

Makes complete sense to me.. couple nights ago in a $1 buy in $300gtd I actually had a goofball say to me after shoving 85os all in to my KK in the bb and hittin 2 pr "Ill send ya the 1 buck"..after I comment how poor their play was. I told him no thanks.

Ofcourse it does suck when they win the hand and knock u out feelin like an idiot but theres somethings u cant get too mad at.

I agree but it irritates me even more when it is said in a freeroll because just because it didnt cost anything to get into the tourney doesn\'t mean its ok to value it any less. I have been in freerolls that have had higher payouts then a $3 buy in.

dumb people need an excuse to be dumb. when there are no consequences for losing and only benefits for winning, they can be dumb without fear.

while sometimes they can pay you off... I just don't see it happen too often that someone calls with something completely crazy and loses and then says this. It's just like an excuse they use when the suck out badly, which is why I think it is so annoying, Hating themselves for acting stupid when they lose, acting like they don't care that they're only playing with a few dollars when they win. The reason a player plays certain buy ins is becasuse of skill a great player isnt going to be playing 1 dollar turneys just like a horrible player wont be playing 10/20 NL

i dont make any comments like that, but i notice i will chase a flush alot faster in a 1.10 game vs a 11 game..maybe that is a flaw of mine, just sayin...

There's a player out there (i won,t name) who has played the WORST.When i (politely) asked him why he would play those cards out of position he told me he was bored and does it all the time.

I've always wondered how people can use the excuse for shitty play or just lack of caring because it's a freeroll or a micro game. It's confusing for me because I am the exact opposite. I love poker so every game I play no matter the buy in or anything else that may vary, I always want to try to do my best each and everytime. After all if I'm not doing that I'm not improving.
