No idea about this, I figure using one would make you a weak player live that relys on HUDs, I don't think there are any for BCP anyways which is where I play.
yea Im sure this would hurt youre live game a lot!!!
Don't know if it would hurt live play, but from all I can see, almost all big money online players use them...
you should probably use a hud because if you don't have one generally people who do have a hud will have an edge on you.
alot of people say it for cash games but i have poker tracker 4 and all i play are tourneys, i mainly use it to keep track of my stats, money won, making sure im getting better and i believe its completly worth the $60 i just waited till i cashed out and basically got it for free
I just got PokerTracker v3 60 Day trial, the thing gives lots of stats, but it is damn complicated to understand and configure the proper things you need...
There is also Holdem Manager. You can get the trial version for both Holdem Manager and PokerTracker. Carbon also has a simple HUD. Some people like HUDs and some people don't. Try the trial version and see which one you like.
I don't even know what a HUD means in poker
I liked poker tracker 4 ok but took a while to learn how to use it.
Holdem User Data? Hand Uncertainty Detailer? His Understandable Disgust? What are we talking about here?

Thanks for the explanation, qcnb! much appreciated.

I try to keep it simple with the HU. Basically when the situation is right I will announce to the table HU and then go all in.
would be nice if someone actually explained what HUD is exactly
A HUD is a Heads up Display, it basically ''mounts'' over your online table, and gives you stats from other players at the table. ( IT only gives you stats which you have witnessed, not of their all time playing carreer... )
i.e. : Pre-Flop Raise %, Aggression Level, % of times volontarily put money in the pot, flops seen, turns seen, rivers seen, etc, etc...

unless your a consistent player and winner at the cash games even the micro cash games, you can pick a professional one up for $50 and upgrade it later on if you make it to the bigger levels.. however, if your doing freerolls, and playing micro tournaments theirs really no point in my opinon especially since in tournaments people cahnge their play so much, and you get moved around with different players alot.
pokertracker is good...if you take poker seriosuly you need this software in order to be good.
I've been pretty happy with PT4. The only issue I have with it is that I can't get it to track tourney results correctly without my having to manually input the info. Also, any PO tourney I play, it thinks I bought in for the total prize amount (which seriously hurts my ROI if I don't fix it). I haven't spent alot of time trying to fix it, and maybe there's a simple solution. The cash games are tracked properly.
I can't speak for Holdem Tracker.
