Okay guys and gals, how important do you think confidence is when you're playing in a tournament??
Very important. Lack of confidence can cause you to make bad judgement calls
Confidence in that your going to win? Probably very litte. Confidence that I'm making the best decisions at the right times. A whole lot.
Confidence is a key aspect of playing poker.
It can make or break you're tournament. When you're confident, it just feels like everything's going y our way.
Essential
However confidence is often confused with arrogance (aka Phil Helmuth is a good example)
It is a good player who is confident his pair of Aces on a low non paired rainbow board is doing well but still possibly weak to 2 pair
It is a bad player who is arrogant into thinking that the same situation, nothing has him beat
Confident players with the right skill can get away from a poor drawing hand or a made but weaker hand will go far in a tornament
Arrogant players will often regardless of skill, make mistakes that depending on the situation will cost them a good size of chips or knock them out
If you can be both types of players, this makes you a force and you will win multi million $$$ events however even the pros who can play like this Sami Faha is a good example need to be a lot more Confident than arrogant.
Don't forget, luck balances outs more or less down the line
Bad moves and poor judgement will get you possibly a few extra pots but you will lose a great deal more
I think confidence is probably more important in live tourneys then in online tournaments.
Without any confidence, you are not playing. you are not active. Waiting for a AK or AA is pointless as the chances are low. look at your position on the table and make the right decision. Confidence will play it's part.
it works both ways. too much and you're an ass. to little an you are wasting your time.
when your confident you know what move to make and you make it, when ur not you second guess yourself and fu ck up. Confidence is very important.
it sounds a lil wierd talking bout confidence when u talking bout a luck game. I think confidence would be a more important thing if we were talking bout sports. ..........O_o
I think confidence is important to keep other players from getting a weak read from you and then just running you over with their aggressiveness. You don't want other players to push you around because you are too scared to make a call on a big bet. But I also think you need to be humble and take your time to make good judgements on your play and to think clearly about your reads on others. Without confidence, you will only win a tournament if you get really lucky. And you will also be terrible at late stage tournament play where people loosen up and are much more aggressive.
Confidence plays a major part in tournaments. You start making bad decisions and bad plays when you are lacking.
Confidence or lack there of, is the number one thing that holds me back in tournament play. The number of times I used to notplay decent hands, or overworried about my oponents hands..... geeze. The converse is true as well, when I am on TILT it is usually because I have become overconfident.
Confidence is just believing in your play and not having to worry about losing a hand.
I'm confident that I am a donking machine, but I am curious to what wagon thinks though.
Confidence is key. Without it you may as well just play the slots and hope for the best. Either that or just stand at the casino door and hand out your cash to all that enter.
yes it is important u must have that or u play scared
I'd rather be confident then lucky. For me when I play poker playing confident and feeling focused goes hand in hand. When I lose either one is when I start to play bad and the lucky players get the best of me.
Some days you are just confident enough to know those aces are gonna bust,
esp if it will put you ITM.
Confidence is important in everything you do. You are not going to be playing your best when you lack confidence or are over confident. You need the steady middle to make sound decisions and accept the wins and losses.
confian?a e tudo se n?o a tem nao jogue
I think that patience in poker and discernment are more important than confidence. I would rank confidence in 3rd to those two.
I dont think its important in online poker :D ofcourse its good for being in good mood but it cant change what cards you will get or what cards will get your opponents :)
Confidence plays a huge part in just about everything we do...too much confidence can sometimes hurt(and not just in poker), in my opinion.:)
confidence seems to be a good thing to have in life period
I think confidence, whether it's lack of or too much, is not only vital to all poker games but pretty much everything you do in life.
