well i myself started in homegames knowing nothing. early fairly looseplay/later tight play works well without a magazine. however it verys with stack size. i learned to play at poker school online through stars. before them it was bugsys club.
you should read some tournament strategy books ...there are lots....see if you can find a copy of harrington on hold 'em

Leggopoker is the best training site.
Getting in there and playing has been my personal favorite, but maybe a educational site would help, who knows
I myself don't listen to poker lectures, because I got my own way of playing poker.
I didin't think there was such a thing as poker lectures.

don7238: if you dont know the basics e.g. about odds and stuff, you are really in a disadvantage

i like videos of successful players actually playing and talking through things. i can learn from example that way better than read strategy stuff i find
listening and watching other people is a good way to learn

yea poker lectures can screw youre game up if yourne not careful!
there is no way to playt poker perfect.
It is better to focus on odds and outs and to focus on reading people, than letting your gut decide..
