She is not comfortable with me spouting off odds she wants to play and ask questions as she goes, she watched me play for years
ps i think she could be better than me with all my knowledge lol
I would just let her play and you answer questions for her when she asks them.

would it be total ahole move to get her a book on the odds?
HOH is a good book for beginners. Do you run any kind of tracking software that has a replayer? Let her play some micro cash games and/or SnGs, FRs even n ask questions as u watch her. Slip in odds n y she should do sumtin different ever so slightly. Just let her know that itsa game of odds n to be a winner shes going to hafta learn em sooner or later.Quote:

In all honesty, the Poker Stars PokerSchoolOnline training is rather effective.
lol....gl to you and your girlfriend....learning to play poker is not only learning the odds...The more beats she takes the better rounded she will become....If you can learn from your beats without letting them effect your game..you always have potential

Super System isnt much of a beginners book i dont think tho. N if im thinkin of the right book then it also covers all types of poker, Harrington on Hold'Em is probly the best starter book out there.Quote:

Yeah like someone else said let her play her own game and if she has any questions then answer but if she doesnt ask let her play her own way
Try to get a home game with friends and maybe their girlfriends. Environment is everything you don't want to take her down to the casino and be super intimidated. She should learn how to enjoy the game before she starts mastering it. It would also give you a chance to explain the game without having to watch replays or play online.
Regardless what happens make sure you are not sharing the same BR. LOL
You can always teach her to play well....but trust me my wife is really good from watching me play online....but she will never grow a pair and learn to bluff at times lol

I am a woman, and here's my advice. Set your girlfriends/wives up with a carbon and PO account. I grew up in in vegas, so I was used to being around casinos. I knew poker hands from video poker and just slowly started playing new stuff in the main casino I went to. The place had a $20 tourney and my aunt used to be a dealer, so she explained the rules to me about 10 min before it started and I picked it up from there. From the mouth of a woman playing online poker. Set her up an account let her play. Answer the questions she has, but don't be an ass and don't be pushy... let her learn in her own time. I've always liked poker, its in my blood! My dad was always a good poker player. His game was Stud! I just got the guts a few years ago to finally get on Poker Stars, Ultimate Bet, Lock, and now carbon! I am hooked. I am no where near being a good player, but I'm learning everyday, part of that is I don't have someone breathing down my shoulder and telling me what I'm doing wrong. Thats the biggest part. If you rag on her too much she will quickly change her mind and not like it, you have to let her learn the game on her own!

Play heads up with her and possibly add more people, thats enough to teach someone how to play. Ive done it with many family members and they learn a long the way.
