Shout out to Rich Eisen for being absolutely hilarious on Thursday Night Football, and on a related note, shout down to the NFL Network producers for starting this weak ass gift bag thing for the player of the game (oh you make millions of dollars, well here's like $20 in crap you have to pretend isn't totally worthless because you're on camera).
A BIG Shout out of shame to the NFL for not getting this ref thing resolved. Biggest sport in the US and they want to put inferor product out there for us to watch.
Steve Young analyzed this perfectly after the last MNF game. The NFL knows they have a perfectly inelastic product and a monopoly on football. People will watch no matter what, and they have propagated this fallacy that having replacement refs does not matter because the regular officials miss calls too.Quote:

Just watch NFL coverage on ESPN and you will see a clear difference in the way this issue is discussed.

That ref was lucky Bill didn't pull a Jim Schwartz from last year after the week 2 game against the Niners. Maybe now that a team has had the game taken out of their hands the NFL will realize what a joke this whole thing is. Unfortunately, in the latest round of talks both parties agreed they are still far apart on a number of issues, and there are no new talks scheduled. This is gonna be an interesting year, especially as we get closer and closer to January.

I hate how the refs are the headline for so many of the games. Those old officials weren't perfect but they knew what they were doing. These refs are sometimes lost and take forever to make a simple decision. They dont have any respect which is the main problem. Once the old officials come back, people will realize that they miss calls as well and call a lot of the ticky tack stuff that people said was the No Fun League. Now when there are big hits and no flags, theres talk about how the nfl isnt safe now. So many people just forget what they were complaining about in the past...
There has always been bad calls in any sport. We can live with that. Problem is with these refs, is that they are losing control of the game. Players treat them like substitute teachers. Sooner or later they will lose total control of a game and somebody will seriously hurt. Only then will the Owners(who control this whole situation) will bow down and finally address the issue.Quote:
