Yesterday, over the course of about 2 hours, I turned $6 on Black Chip Poker into $60. I accomplished this playing .02/.05 PLO and $5 PLO HU Hyper Turbo's.
I lost it all back in about 2-3 hours by stepping up to .10/.25 PLO like a damn fool who's never heard of bankroll management.

Sorry man, that sucks. If you wanted to move up, maybe 5cent 10 cent. However, going broke is something that is quite common among lots of players.

Bankroll management strategy is dependent on how good you are. Obviously, the better you are the less bankroll management you need, if you are a -EV player then no amount of bankroll management will save you. Even having 1000 buy ins will go "bye bye".
Before you decide how many buy ins you need, figure out how good of a player you are. Do you study? Do you go to websites and look at the percentages, the strategies, and ready up on whatever you can get your hands on? Or do you just play for the shits and giggles. It's not about ego, it's about work.
The stakes you played were simply too high, for any good player. You should have waited till you had at least 100$.

You were doing excellent at first. After you got up to the 60. You should then take 30 and enter in a double or nothing tourney. You only have to outlast 3 people of the 6. Then you have 90. Take 50 and do it again and so on.

Depends on the person, but I completely disagree. If you don't have enough money to follow BRM and play in the smallest buy-in tourneys, then play more PO FRs. That's what I did. Basically I played only FRs until I had enough to follow my 5% rule. It takes time at first, but once I had the money I needed to play micro stuff if I dropped below my minimum BR requirement I was only a PO cash away from being able to play again. And that is the exact same position as someone that goes and blows their whole PO cash in one sitting. The only difference is that I'm teaching myself discipline, and once I built up a roll I don't have to worry about going busto. It's nice always having cash to play with.Quote:

BRM doesnt really come in to effect until you hit 100
lol at no brm under 100. Granted you dont have to follow percent rules, but you can still "manage your roll" smartly.
