In your own words what are the effects on relationship?
poker will only hurt it if you are a losing player. lol I know too much poker gets in the way of some missed out romances. or could anyways. old gf use to say u play too much poker lol but then when you take them to the casino with your winnings, they love you again.
overall, I would quit poker for a mate and wouldn't second guess it.
my wife gets pissed when i play all day and night other than that its cool
I just recently started playing online poker for real money. My wife was always on my case about, "Why do you care its not real money?" This of course was when I just played Zynga poker on Facebook. Now that I was like see I won $100 real money she kinda backed off and was like ok cool. As long as I only play when she is busy. I play poker for fun just like she watches tv for fun. For some reason it doesn't matter what you like to do for fun, if she doesn't care for it then you should dump it. Oh well that is the married life for you.
i love poker.
i love poker 2........................
Poker is something that passes the hours of the day. Live alone and I'm ok with that,,, I'm a three time loser (marriages) so I'm done.
lol the poor wives of professional poker players... you soooo gotta feel for them. ;p
Life is about balance. If your spending so much attention on one that the other suffers, your life is out of balance. If poker is your occupation, your wife should understand 8 hour days of poker taking your attention. If its a hobby, you need to prioritize. Empowered women are too busy to worry about what you use your free time on.
What do you call a poker player without a girlfriend? Homeless :D
my wife has her hobbies and mine is poker.
I love poker, poker doesn't love me... I love my wife, and my wife loves what makes me happy.
She supports me through thick and thin. Relationship = great.
believe it or not my wife and I met on Pokerstars 2 1/2 years ago. so I caught good. we go out and play poker together drink beer together watch football together and although im more serious about poker than her she supports me. I am truly blessed!!
poker is good for single life style not the family oriented type imo, but still have healthy relationships yah
well i spent alot of years on drugs and recently turned my life around also getting back with my love that i left during my abusing days. she gets pretty upset at times that i let poker occupy most of my free time but ulatimately understands that as a addict free time can be a disaster to my sobriety, so although not completely happy with it she supports me in a positive activity that i love, poker. of course she tells me i spend to much time playing poker and tries to get me to watch lifetime movies with her, i simply tell her that she enjoys the lifetime movies and i enjoy poker, she usually gets mad but after i play poker till 1 or 2 am, i crawl in bed wit her and SMOOTH things over which buys me time till we start over the next day when i get off work lmao
It works great in my relationship. My husband likes spending hours playing video games, and I like spending hours playing poker on my laptop. We can sit next to each other on the couch doing our own thing, hanging out, no need to bitch at each other. The only annoying thing is when he wants to go do something right after I've started a tourney.

no relationship like the one on the felt, velvet felt
poker and relationships don't seem to work for me unless i'm just killin it, and then it only lasts for a little bit
yup as long as wife or gf has her own hobbies no big deal,,
Some advice for those with wives, gf's, bf's, husbands, etc., if they don't play, try making a point to learn them how
Or show them how fun the game is!!!!!!!!!
As long as there is another activity for her to immerse herself into, then I can pretty much do whatever. IE: I have to give up the TV, if I am "playing computer" as multiple activities at one time are not fair. Unless I am in the living room alone, then whatever goes!
LOL
Later,
as long as i dont interfere with her its perfectly fine
I've played poker with the person I'm in a relationship with and when it doesn't work out it can be hard for me to play and seperate the two.
I like poker. ...... But I f%ckin' love poke her! So if it's one or the other, it's a no-brainer, but I've got a cool chic who has her own friends and interests. Plus I generally play in moderation anyway.
Happily single myself. So I play whenever I want. YAY!
Poker is such a solitary game and profession that it is difficult to form bonds with others if you are engrossed with the tables 24/7
My boyfriend loves the fact that I play poker. The thing is that we recently started to meet, thanks to gay teen dating sites. I think you always need to find a couple who will share your hobbies so that in the future it will not become a problem. It's really cool when there is understanding in a relationship.
Fluff in the house!
