if phil hellmuth doesn't want people to call with J 10 and pretty good odds to hit a hand like that and beat a big hand like his AA he should 3 BET HIS ACES! don't just call and let people see flops ... he played the hand bad and he should be blaming himself not telling the guy who played the hand he's a donkey. 89 of hearts in the BB 5 handed for such good odds is also a nice hand to be in. got lucky to hit the 7 but still.
8-9 suited LMAO, I see his pain on that call but 2 pair was a good call. Just Hellmuth should have never let them see a fop!!!!! He still is a tourney beast, he finished 2nd in this years WSOP 2-7 lowball draw
He's a mental case for sure,,, but can't deny the results,,,had a total of three 2nd place finishes this WSOP if I'm not wrong....
The thing is phil hellmuth has a brand built where is is known as the poker brat. He's a smart guy and he surely has p.r. people, and they all realise that by these few blow ups he's living up to him name and increasing his brand. Sure sometimes he is legit angry, like in his run ins with tony G you can see he is pissed. But i would bet alot of money he doesnt act like this or atleast this extreme when the camera's arent around him.

i just hate it how he is calling that guy an idiot for playing J 10 off and he just called a raise with aces ... he could of easily prevented the J 10 from seing a flop by 3 betting or even pushing with his aces.

I agree that Phil can be a bit of an idiot and a major cry baby whiner, but I gotta admit, the guy entertains me. You can't help but laugh at him when he loses it and goes off on a rant.

^^^ Precisely that. Not even that he's an idiot, he just loves the game so much he doesn't settle for anything under winning. Sure sometimes his rants are excessive or ill-advised, but, that's part of the appeal of poker in America, imo. Negreanu said it in his blog as to the reasoning behind him not participating in the inaugural EPL event... "People want to see Hellmuth going on a tirade."

I don't think he is the best ... he is old school tight and tricky ... the formula has worked for him.
every year more and more amateaurs from online play show up in these tourneys tho and these "old timers" like phil have a lot more unknowns to deal with... they play radically and all over the place so its getting harder and harder for the "pros"
but ya i think he did take 2nd like 2 or 3 times this year at the wsop... he def holds his own!

Hellmuth blow ups are super fun to watch, another reason he gets so much tv time.
i hate how he berates people but he does take some sick beats.
they showed his exit at the Main Event just short of cashing when he raises from the button with 33 and gets 3 betted by BB (KQo) and he calls with flop of JQx (2 spades) and then the BB bets and phil shoves with an instacall, and his one funny comment on the post-interview was about how he knew the guy was 3 betting with hands that he should not be 3betting with... pokerbrat got outmanuevered
He sure got bad manners when he lose or got donk out from the the game, but he is a good poker player
mike matusow is one of my favs hehe>> and hes actually a nice,, quiet person, lo key in person wehn met him:) doesnt act like he used to or how tv shows him either lol.. and he and phil are actually good frinds now,, even tho they had their arguments in the past,, he always says how phils a good firend and a nice guy too... but even mike, as his firend,, will admit, he loves to get phil all riled up at table,,, and see him explode sometimes for fun. helmuth will cry about every hand he loses, ive seen him call people out with aj kq 88 q 10, whil he loses with 95 94 a 10. its funny and i think its a show.
