so i am in big blind in po tourney no raise i have j 9 hearts... flop comes 10 8 hearts and 2 clubs.... guy pushs all in do you call????? I will have 220 in chips left i call..... he has set of 22s.... i miss hitting the straight or the flush...... what where my odds with 2 cards to come.......
You have to call. If anyone says otherwise they are wrong.
as above really, if it was just a straight or just a flush draw then id fold but chance for a straight flush hands down worth the risk
your odds were very good to win the hand, but the straight flush was less greater
The straight flush draw is NEVER worth chasing but its a bonus if you have a str8 draw and flush draw. NEVER draw at the str8 flush, your drawing to one card, but when u have a str8 flush draw u also have the flush draw and hope no one else has a bigger draw. So throw the one outer out of ur mind ur really playin just the flush draw and str8 draw, if u happen to hit the str8 flush then WOOOHOOO but thats not what u wanna play for
Yeah, I think you call there, lots of outs. Might fold if you are on the bubble for the money, but it depends.
ok got a question for you on this, let's say you are in the WSOP and bought in for 10k of your money, are you risking your tourney life on your hopes of hitting your flush or straight draw??????Quote:

yes, you absolutely have to call, you are actually favorite against most hands at this pt. Because he had set, you are slight dog now (around 40%), but you can't automatically put him on set, I'd figure top pair, even A J you are favorite against at this pt (you are around 60%), and top 2 (10 8) you are a coin flip. Only other hand you are less than 45% against is A 2 hearts, any other bigger flush draw you are 45 or better. I would never fold open ended str flush draw after flop, way too many outs, unless at a pt in tourney i didn't want to take any chances and had enough chips to make a good run (right at bubble), then maybe i'd fold.Quote:

Well well I played on Intertops yesterday do you know what happend? I had KQ suited vs his 45 I think and he flop straight flush immedialy with the same flush I had.

Even thought you sitting with a flush draw, the odds is very slime for getting too.
If I'm not mistaken, the odds heads up, an open ended straight flush draw vs a set is 52% to win with 2 cards to come. So yes its a favorite but its not necessarily an automatic call. Cash game an autocall is fine. Tourney pretty much an autocall, but if I was deep and on the bubble I could lay it down and not lose any sleep over that decision.
Where the tournament is and how many chips you have left(If you lose) is key here....don't listen to all these other guys because in the beginning of tournaments you want to stay away from coin flips and even situations where you are a 60% favorite... You said you were in the BB (If you fold you only lose the BB) so the short answer is Late Stages for sure call , Early stages fold , Middle stages base it on how tough the table is(if you're on a tough table...call, if not....fold)Quote:

Yeah, you should call, chances are you are holding the best hand pre-river and more likely to hit the set.
not nessaserily its only a straight flush draw...so might have more outs but does not mean its the best hand pre river...somone may have hit trips on for a fh/quadsQuote:

giving you have only 220 chips left yes I would call however if you had a larger stack or if it was the start of the tourney and you had more chips would be a different story

you dont ever have to call... is your tourney life worth chaseing? leaving you with 200 chips, you could fold and wait for a better place to get your money in, i would call in a heartbeat in a ring game though

sometimes call aint helping. if u play this on everest poker, u would lose. for a few days no flopped flushdraws closed for me. it's so strange.

I would have called it, but i play some risky hands so that's probably why.
With this given situation you're getting 42% equity to win the hand. For it to be a profitable play you must be getting at least 50%ev, but that doesn't mean this is a bad play, given villain could easily be shoving worst draws and also pairs on that board just trying to steal so you have overs aswell. IMHO, I can't tell if this is a good play it depends whether it was in a cash game, or a tournament. If tournament it would depend on stack sizes and how deep you are to determine if this play is suitable. Meh, THEY WERE SOOTED!
