My goal after the coupon system is in place is to come up with some new and fun promotion...
Some ideas I have:
- Zero to Hero: If you start the final table with the lowest chip count and wind up winning you win a progress prize pool
- Global Thermal Nuclear War: Some type of promotion where it would most likely be US vs The Rest. That is, if you are from the USA vs Everyone else (It would be based on an average). Some kind of fun promotion where if the US Side wins XX amount, they can launch Nuclear Warheads and take out the opposition etc.. and Vice Versa.. No idea where I am going with this, but maybe I just make a promotion where it's US vs The Rest.

At the end of every tournament there will be a lucky number depending on how many entrants.
So if the lucky number is 40, whoever got 40th place will earn an extra coupon valid for a freeroll.

Silent Assassin Challenge:
At the beginning of every tournament 3 players are chosen at random and will be called the "Victims."
The promotion is released if only ONE person takes out all 3 of the "Victims."
So if A,B,C are victims.... Player D must take them all out.
If Player D takes out A&B and Player E takes out C, the challenge is void and will carry on to the next tournament.
If the promotion is too hard, it could be lessened to have only 2 Victims.
This would bring competition to everyone because if one particular person takes out a victim, then the others will have to try and take out the other victims themselves to prevent the one person from getting all the kills.
It's similiar to bounties except you have to take out multiple bounties. It could be impossible though if you are never at the same table. Also there's issues with verifying you took them out.
So I read the 2 or 3 pages of suggestions, but realized there is 30 something, so I gave up and hope I don't repeat existing suggestions.
Most of my suggestions are out of the poker realm a bit, and more in to the web design and development. I have spent about 5 years freelancing web design and development. So I see some things that I think could help (not trying to be critical or put down anyone's effort. I am just trying to pass on some areas I see can be improved on to help grow the site. I really am not putting down the site, developers/designs, or anyone.)
The first think that really catches my eye is that the site at best looks very dated. The flow to the site and just the overall layout doesn't have, god I hate this phrase, but "web 2.0" flow to it. Improved Navigation (css cascading menus would be nice), a side bar or two with navigation and announcements, and some shifting of the layout I think would go a long ways.
I see you are using Vbulletin and I guessing that is the platform for all of the site (creating additional pages and plugins I am guessing). An improved skin and styling would go a long ways I think. I have looked at other sites that offer very similar services (you do their promotions, they give you points for freerolls). I like Pokerowned's community a lot, from what I have experienced from it, and I like a lot of the unique promotions you have here. So I am not saying that I am thinking of jumping ship to another service. I like it here. But I think that a good portion of people browsing the various sites, might get turned off by the styling and be drawn to some of the competition.
On the issue of people browsing, I did a couple key word searches and PO didn't pop on the first page for any of them. "Poker Freerolls", "Poker Forum", "Free Poker Money" are some phrases I thought of. PO didn't show up on the first page of any of them. I think these are so SEO terms that should be looked at. Also, doing a back link tracker, I think it showed 28 back links to Pokerowned.com. That number should be a pretty easy to get higher.
This might not be the most popular suggestion, but I don't understand why you don't have Ads. I was on I think poker.org (not 100% sure on the site) checking it out the other day, (similar service, get points by surveys, get into freerolls). While I didn't even sign up to their site, I noticed on the side an Overstock ad for poker sets (hadn't checked there yet). I happen to be in the market for a new poker set for my home games, and I clicked on it. Made them some money for the click. Plus there is money to be made for page views. I have no clue what the traffic is like on this site is, but this is extra revenue that could be used for you (I am guessing you do make a couple bucks off of all this, at least I hope you do because I know the work involved) and more money for freerolls, which I think people would be more than happy to have. A lot of programs and sites have targeted ads now (google, amazon, etc).
I really like this site so far. I do not say any of this to put anyone down or to be "Harsh". I have been doing web work for a while now and these are some things I see that I feel could help grow the site and community. So please take no offense, because I mean none. I think you have created a very awesome site. So please don't get my intentions wrong.
wow a little strong speach but i bet some great ideas!!! A idea to help dalsues idea would be prgressive bounties... if we moved them from 2 to 4 per game... and had 50 points for knocking out one 100 per if you knocked out 2... 200 per if you knocked out 3...and 400 per if you took out all 4 bounties... one bountie should always be last tourney winner.....

Some background.. Pokerowned sort of started "From my garage" sort of thing. Very small site that has really started to grow. I recently merged with a company out of the UK and we're creating new software from the ground up. We anticipate this will be done in another 5 months or so.
Once completed, you won't even recognize this site. I agree, it's very dated and needs a huge overhaul, and that is what we're shooting for :)
We'll have a new domain, new theme, and more to do than just poker. There will be a design team and SEO experts working on the site as well.
I have always resisted advertisements, because frankly, none usually work and since you cannot use adsense on gambling related forums.. I haven't really found anything else that works.

since we will be on the coupon system can we have you and the work of carbon poker to do a mthly tournament of champions for say a 100 fr so this fr will take place once a mth and only winners of the fr during the month can play in it...

I think someone probably had mentioned it before, but why not include blackjack or a slot machine game to gamble points on. It would be something to do in between tournaments or if your just bored. Just a thought.
