Refer a friend upgrade thoughts..

Refer a friend is one of the LEAST used features we have on this site and the EASIEST way you can earn points.

Currently you get 5% of any points your referrals earned.


So my question, why aren't you referring anyone?


And my answer and further question:

WOULD THIS MAKE YOU REFER OTHERS?

- Increase referral rate from 5% to 10%
- Add 2 more tiers (Tier 2 3%, tier 3 1%)
- Add the 'I win, You win' Anytime your referral wins real money in a tournament you win points. If he wins $5.70 you would get 57 points. This works in reverse also (just less points) if you win $3.00 ALL your referrals would get 15 points
- Add a 'who referred you' on sign up so you can have people tracked to you via link or "bonus code"



So again, would this make you refer others?

I've tried really hard to refer people. No one I know seems very interested in poker tho.

because i dont know many/any people that play poker...most either dont know the game or show interest then never sign up :/

i play a lot of live in my area and all of them have facebook things going on i just gota get on one of there posts lol

I like those ideas. I have referred a couple people but they have not signed up yet. :(

I wouldn't say it's pointless, but I think this site is catering to a lot of degens. Most degens are kinda in their own world -- meaning their friends, family, etc. don't share the same desires as they do when it comes to poker and such.

I have referred a few people here, but it's the same with any of my refs on any sites. They sign up and then either do very little or nothing.

I think changing the tiers and the ref earnings percentages would give more of an incentive.

I think youd find most people do refer others, theyre either forgetting to use the aff link or people just arent signing up. I know many people that play poker, but are usually too involved with live games to play online.

i dont have friends that play poker maybe free access to lock or juicy like bankroll booster does

I have referred ppl who i meet that play online poker but i agree with the other posts that they either sign up and dont do much, or get confused and leave. I try to help them as beat i can though...

like everyone else i have referred several people but none of them have signed up, but the idea is great if our friends would join us

I do not want to be responsible for getting any friends involved in drama on the main page,, its like a high school,,,,, or addicted to gambling..

I have been removing people left and right from there.. If you dont like it, I can remove it for you.. let me know

I have referred a few people from around the way online, and it seems the same as the others, they sign up but eventually end up not coming back. I did have one stick and he still plays, but buys points from members rather than do the offers.

ya i dont know anyone that would be interested so i dont even bother with it

yeah things have improved, but some still get a little crazy

For whatever reason, I can't copy and paste the link to refer people. So that eliminates trying to refer people I'm playing poker with but don't actually know. On top of that, the two people I have referred I helped fill out the registration, made sure they put my name in correctly, but they didn't automatically show up under friends referred. I still had to pm Zab to get credit. But after all that, neither of them actually did anything with the site. I know one just doesn't have time with his job, but I'm not sure why the other one isn't active. I think you need something to hook people when they do signup. A free opt in or Carbon ticket would go a long way in showing someone how valuable this site can be. If you don't want to give that out, then maybe give us the option of opting in a friend that we referred or transferring them a Carbon coupon.

I agree. The first time I came on here I was totally overwhelmed and confused and was just going to leave. Bumping into a real life friend on here stopped me and made me give it a chance.

Ya the one referral I had go through was my sisters she got confused and hasnt played. Ive tried to show her, but shes impatient lol

I've tried to refer few ppl but only one has signed up and I don't thk he's been on for days. I thk the upgrade would help a little, but not for sure. Good idea though

Then some of the other players I know have already played here in the past or currently play here from time to time. Maybe if they use to play here, and become inactive there could be some kind of bonus for returning? IDK trying to figure out something lol

I also find it hard to refer people, but those extra incentives do make me want to try harder for referrals. I think people who sign up end up not using the aff link(or bonus code) or whatever anyway, so rghy2 might be on to something with the option to give your referral a ticket or something similar. Even with the extra incentives it might not bring up the referrals though.. maybe try a "who can refer the most" in 2 weeks or a month if you do decide to add the incentives though.

I completely agree that it was overwhelming and confusing. It took me a good 2-3 months before I really started understanding what was going on. The PO guide for beginners was confusing and didn't answer a lot of my questions. I don't like watching tutorial videos because I don't have the attention span for them, so I haven't watched those. The tournaments that you opt in to need a link to the FAQ on the PW release system. I would say the opt-in/buy coupon pages should also have a link to a FAQ on how to earn points.

I honestly think a bunch of us have tried referring people. The problem is getting them to stick around once they sign up. There is a definite learning curve before becoming a PO degen. And it took me a few months to figure out that this site was definitely worth my time. I was on the fence for awhile.

I agree Cloudy, I signed up a long time ago, but was so confused, I stopped trying to figure it out. I did come back a few months ago and was determined to figure things out this go around. I'm glad I did. But I also think that maybe some don't stick around because of the reception they're getting at the tables from the players who think they can tell them how to play. Maybe put a muzzle on them and the new players may stick around.

Hoping to get that redone

I referred as many as I could, most my friend rather make a deposit then have to do surveys :(

I have referred a bunch of people I think only 3 or 4 of them have signed up and just like everyone else they sign up and don\'t leave. I have one friend that was really interested in playing here and getting into the free rolls but he became to confused and has quit coming back. With that in mind Zab I need you to remove a few from my referred list since they have not and will not be here. I have treeman as a refer, but yeah he doesn\'t do too much to help me, but it is a great idea Zab and I will try to refer some more out there. I have also got the comment from people, oh I signed up there already and its a waste of time, but I will keep trying I could always use the extra points!

I ignored this way of earning points, with this thread mentioning and a new upgrade I will push the site to poker friends I have on skype and from other forums.
