Donkey Derby

Help me talk out this idea I have.

Donkey Derby.

This works sort of like a LLB.. I think the way it will work is like this:

You want to enter, you choose a Donkey (player) before the start of a tournament... anyone BUT yourself and anyone who HASN'T been chosen already.


IDEA #1
Let's say it costs 25 points to enter (something small but fun).

People pick donkeys.. if your donkey comes in

1st place - win 70% prize pool
2nd place - win 7% prize pool
3rd place - win 5% prize pool

Progress prize pool so if no one wins, all the points are added to the prize pool

IDEA #2

This one would be more like a LLB. You pick a player anyone but yourself or someone who has already picked. There's a little more strategy involved here. You can pick your player up to the end of late registration. However, the longer you wait, the more points it will cost you.

I.E. lets say it costs 25 points to enter before the tourney

1:01 it might cost 30
1:02 it might cost 35
1:03 it might cost 40

and so on.


Thoughts on the 2 ideas?

Good idea, cheap value and if your guy gets first. Also if your a valueable pick, you may wait longer for late reg and would be expensive to pick you then?

So which way would you rather do it? Idea #1 or #2?

well idea #1 would seem more right i think.

but still be able to pick a person in late registration would be nice.

Instead of making it like a llb where someone wins everytime. Make it a progressive jackpot where if no one's donkey comes in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, then it gets added to the next game.

i think u could do both actually......

This is just like donkey betting on someone else IMO.

Its essentially donkey bet / pin the tail on the donkey / llb

maybe make better players cost more money to buy

Yea sort of.. So not a good idea? But you are betting on them against everyone else.. And once you pick that person no one else can.

I like idea #1. Its similar to donkey betting but i look at donkey betting being like buying a cheap scratch card with small prizes, While this would be like buying a more expensive scratch card with much higher prizes.

My only fear about it is that as a progresive prizepool it might not grow that much as it more that likely will be won every freeroll. My only idea to solve this is to limit the number of bets allowed each tourney to 30-40 so there is a chance that the jackpot can go inclaimed for a few tournies so it rises to a high amount

Yeah I think Prawney just nailed the biggest flaw in this idea right there. If every player can be bought then someone would win nearly every game. Would have to think of a way to limit the number of donkeys in the race. What if the 9 players from the final table from last tourney are the horses in the next tourney and everyone can bid on them, the more money that's put on someone, the lower they're payout odds just like derby races. Final table might be too slim though, maybe top 20 finishers would work better to ensure a bunch will move on to the next game.

I like idea #1 as well.
Maybe I am missing something or not reading it right, but I don't think it would be won that often, I could be wrong....

If everyone that entered a tourney was picked then its gonna be won.

Thing is, not every player would be picked.. so it would be progressive (but limited)

I find the idea so you buana chance to win something but do not end up in charge

i like the idea #1 are you betting on them to win or to be 1st out ( the donkey ) maybe i missed something ... i assume we would be betting on them to be 1st,2nd and 3rd out correct?

I think it's a good idea lol to see if we have more chances to win something

Not sure if this idea has legs.. Just not sure people would participate in it or be that fun?

its almost exactly the same...I really dont think its an idea people will participate in.

must be the auction thing i won it once

this sounds like a good promotion to get more points. but it also sounds like betting on the winning horse.
