How do you guys play with a small bankroll and not get antsy and not get bored?

SO...ive deposited and lost and deposited and lost.

I'm not gonna pretend I'm a winning player, in the sense that I am extracting money from the game.

I will go to the extent of making some excuses and saying I can make money, I just do not do so because of poor bankroll management.

The problem I have faced is that if I deposit 100 dollars...i find 5nl or 10nl too low stakes for me. I've played hundreds of dollars in a casino, so idk it just seems crazy to be investing so much energy to make dimes or nickels.

I've been able to play 25nl seriously, but i honestly think that onilne 25nl may be stronger than live 1/2 nl.

Atleast when talking about the casinos I have gone to.

I am a student and cant really afford to shovel in 500 or more into a bankroll at once. Even for 25nl I need atleast 1000 for a safe bankroll. There are just too many downswings, even for winnign players.

Do you guys have any advice on how to stay focused at a 5nl or 10nl? Am I just too money focused? should i just forget about the money and play these stakes and worry about my plays and actions.

This is what I want to do, but I just find it hard. I seem to get bored. When I play high stakes, i either am outclassed or have too small of a bankroll. Although, i feel at these stakes I am fully focused and invested in the game.

I think the focus on the money is a real issue. When playing ANY tourney, you should not be thinking about what you paid to get in - you paid your money, now it's time for poker. If you paid a small sum, you're likely to play far too loose because, hell, it's only 5 dollars. If you paid a bigger sum, you're going to play too tight because you see it as 1/4 of your deposit. You have GOT to work on ignoring the investment amount during the tourney, and play each hand appropriately, regardless of what you bought in for.
I'm not slurring my words. I'm talking in cursive. I believe the ladies find it to be quite elegant.

you have to do just that, stay focused and patient. Ive found that only about 10% of hands dealt are worth playing. With all of the players just pushing left and right, its best to stay low and jump when the cards do come. GOOD LUCK!

well said. poker is poker, don't change your style bc of entry amount!

i'm gonna try a double or nothing right now. Seems like with half the field getting paid variance should be low right?

I find that playing more than 1 table at a time helps when I play the micro stakes. That way there is more going on, and I will 4 table, even if your just doing more folding.
Also if you have more money to deposit, but what you have in your actual online account is less than enough to be rolled for higher games, then you could play higher games. Technically your bankroll is as big as your willing to deposit. If online you have $100 dollars in you roll, but have an extra $100 to deposit in case you go bust, then technically your BR is $200.
If you think about it the lowest stakes at a casino are $1/$2 and the lowest online are .01c/.02c($2nl) so the quality of play in $1/$2($200nl) live would be comparable to $2nl online.
