what are the odds of catching a str8 if its open ended
usually it is every out multiplied by 2.5, per card to come. so on the turn your odds of catching your open ender on river would be roughly 20%. but odds change of course if your outs are folded/ in play. that's just a rough idea.

generally its 2 * Numbers of cards can improve ur hand...
Example:
urs cards: JQo
flop: K 10 2
U have 2 cards to improve urs hand... the 9 or the A to complete the stair
so 8 cards ( four 9s and four As)
then multiplicate 2*Number of cards ( 2 because will come the turn and river)
2*8=16
implicate youve 16 odds
and obviously with all the others factors mencionated by savelapuck and many others
