Music And Poker (Benifits And Downfalls)

You see it all the time on the World Series... walk into a poker room and there is usually someone with an mp3 player listening to music. But what kind of effects can this have on play?

I wanted to start out this thread as it does not seem to get enough attention.

So anything goes here... what kind of music do you listen to when you play? Or do you even listen to anything? What kinds of music can mellow you out, but not to such a point your docile... and what music is bad that may cause aggressive behavior?

Personally, I chose to listen to classical guitar or classical music. Sometimes I will throw in some Elton John, Billie Joel, Fleetwood Mac, etc. for variety.

So what are your thoughts, ideas, comments?

I listen to the village people, queen, Barbara Stressand and follow it up with some vanilla ice, and then some right said fred...is very relaxing...

Serious in my weekly game I listen to music and it helps me stay calm and pass the time. I keep it low so I can hear the table talk and turn it off when Im in a hand.

Don't play live,,,at home on the lap top I listen to older hard rock bands like... AC/DC ...Scorpions....Def Leppard...Foghat... Ted Nugent... etc. Also southern rock Lynyrd Skynyrd. I'm 65 years old, someone told me to grow up,, like I'm too old to listen to rock...ROFL

Absolutely music is a plus at the table, helps pass the time btw hands and helps me focus.

Music makes people calm when playing poker and doesn't give off any tells, that's why you see almost every poker pro listening to music at the table. When it comes to the type of music, I wouldn't recommend any genre, just music you enjoy listening too.
