Making a living as an online poker player

Maybe this is not the best site to look for answers on this (hence most all spending time shooting for pts)

but I would love to one day ...no doubt. The most heart wrenching this though is my sterm beleif that poker is rigged from the inside out. Built into the software. How many times have we all seen the shortstack go bye bye in touney.

Maybe it is not specifically riggied against any one player but programmed to be effiecent in bouncing a mofo th fo out the do

    lol

If you think poker is rigged then you have no chance of making a living doing this. Research and learn the mathematics of poker before thinking of making this a long term plan.

a bit outdated but till a great book none the less, pick up super systems, that was the first book i got a good 8 years ago. theres tons of newer books and print about online gaming, but truly understanding the basics and math of poker in invaluable. As for as rigged goes, no, seems some software favors bad playing IMHO. A buddy had a staking deal on carbon for a while and he basically made a living off that, until merge stopped p2p transfers. Then the backer bought a freakin compound in rosarito mexico, moved a bunch of em in there to keep playing on Stars

Id much rather try to earn a living at poker playing live. i guess it depends if you have a cardroom anywhere near you. Ive got the LA casinos 45 minutes away and a few indian ones about 30 minutes away. i always run good in ring games live, online not as much.

Read about poker, watch poker, play poker. Obv a lot of good luck helps people start their bankroll and freedom to play a variety of tournies, but you should always look at your own game and try to perfect it. Look at hand histories and just keep on learning from that. Dont really look at how others play, just focus on your own game.

"Harrington on Holdem" is supposed to be a very good book too. Personally I couldn't make it through a full chapter of any poker book...zzzz That is why I am mediocre player.

I think the days of finding enough fish online to make a good living are over. No doubt money is to be made but its not like it used to be when US players were on FT and Stars.
