How to manage poker and family?

    Hi Guys,

Since I've actively start playing poker I've noticed that there's one more challenge for a regular poker player.

Your family's objection to Poker. Most of my family either thinks, I'm going to loose my car, house, life to poker (even if I only play freerolls and manage my bankroll with that freerolls earnings), or think that I am dedicating too much time studying it while I could have been paying attention to them.

Well, poker does demand a bit of my attention as I decided to study, to participate in forums and watch some videos. So, now, just playing when nobody is at home and when I have enough time to finish a tournament before anyone arrives home. Mostly on Saturdays because of my job.

So, how do you guys do? Does everyone accepts it in your house? How much time do you separate for poker, daily or in a week?

How to manage family and poker? =).

I don't. You have to sacrifice, alright... You choose poker or family and then once you have chosen you go full steam ahead... Reality is, have 1 night stands here and there but I gave up any sort of "family" for poker a few years back. Sorry ladies i'm taken.. POKER. PICK ONE, FAMILY OR POKER, THERE IS NO IN BETWEEN IF YOU WANT TO BE THE BEST. OK

Id say Family comes first, quit poker no one cares about your dreams, goal, accomplishments they only care if you win and they going to get some of it via stake loan or just for railing. Most poker players are overall losers money wise. ive met some good friends playing poker live and online over the last 15-20 years, however I lost my best friend my lover because of poker. poker is addicting its hard to quit I put it right up there with alcohol cigarettes and herion. if I ever see on the table ill prob talk shit take your money than kick your ass in parking life #thuglife . Do us all a favor and spend time with your family. stop by and play a couple hands with us and tell us when u getting married having a kid etc go enjoy life FOOL your welcome
<StephyMarieC> erik!!!!! yay you've always been one of my favorites hehe <scorcher863> i kinda want to smoke some meth, then play poker for like 3 days straight

Only put on what you can afford. Anytime I win any kind of profit cashout wise wife gets something nice or a date night. I only play late at night since I want to spend time with her and my daughter unless theres a special tournament. Potfan has it right family trumps all but one day youll get to esperience that. Until then have fun and be responsible and learn from others mistakes in life instead of making your own

    LOL.......very good question!!

The only solution is to make your family safe first and then bet. Play safe and invest less with less fear of loosing and ultimately your family will not be worried about it.
