phil hellmuth the bracelets dont lie, the most staggering thing is that all but one of his bracelets is a holdem tournament, he won the main even in 1989 so 24 years with 13 braclets, he has won one every other year of his career. If you have 5 bracelets during that span you are considered one of the greatest and he has more than double that.

It really bugs me when people say that, and while i know it is technically true, the only reason he is the leader is because of the One drop game, where the buy-in was a million bucks and he took home 18 million, so yea he is the all time money leader but only because he beat out a field of what 40 people?

I just think he should replace Ivey in the list of considerations. I know people say he's good, but when he folded pocket Jacks to pocket Sevens in the final table of the 2009 WSOP Main Event I knew he just couldn't handle the pressure of high stakes tournaments. It's all about the big win, that's how you get your money's worth out of tournaments.
Your hole cards are the least important factor in Texas hold'em.

I won't include most online players cause most of them are playing a lot more volume in general. Which will bring more results of course. There are a ton of online players who faired well live but no where near how well Hellmuth or Ivey fairs live. I believe Doyle Brunson was asked if he had to bet on any player to win a tournament including himself his respose was "Phil Helmuth"

What is the main ingredient that makes Phil Helmuth one of the greatest tournament players. Discipline on folding very good hands but not the best. Its a very difficult discipline to attain and he is one of the best at laying down sometimes by mistake even winners. He looks for a better spot a ton.

I hate to say it but it has to be Hellmuth. Even though I can't stand the guy he is probably the best tournament player out there right now.

Hellmuth has to get the call, you can say that he is a hold'em specialist, but that is being a specialist at the most popular game by far and the tourney's with consistent deep and talented pools.

I would have to say Phil Hellmuth also because I use to never make it to the money here online playing poker until I watched a certain video with him giving pointer and lessons and it took my game to a whole new level. He does know what hes doing and is very knowlegable of all aspects of Poker.
