Spoiler Alert! After Earth

Has anyone seen the new movie "After Earth"? I thought it was mediocre, but would recommend to watch, if that makes sense. I kept getting reminded of Hatchet... a book I read in middle school. I loved the book, that's why I still recommend the movie.

I like the concept of the movie i guess but in the preview it was said it was 1000 years after people were gone from earth and animals had evolved way too much in such a short geological time. I know its a sci-fi/fantasy movie but when i find a flaw in a storyline it just bugs the hell out of me. I will still eventually watch it when it comes out on demand or on Starz.
